No, usually I don't. I have a ironing board leaning against the back of it to keep it from swinging open.

Yes, I lock the doors to my home. I do lock the doors to my car.

Also I lock my stuff up when I am at the gym (bring my own lock, take it off again at the end of the workout). Tonnes of people get stuff ripped off at the gym, but not me!

I live in a pretty safe town, but we've always locked our doors, especially at night or when we aren't home we only have one regular little lock on each door, nothin too fancy. The only security system we have is Delaney, my 35 lb pit bull mix who sounds and looks mean as hell, but shes actually sweet as pie.

I ALWAYS lock my car! But I always have tons of stuff in it, a few jackets, a few movies, a couple changes of clothes, 100+ CDs, etc. I'd be really screwed if someone broke into my car.

Scary Society isnt it?

God, I am an Ex COP and have an arssenal or what ever.

Damn, Damn!!! Is this what it is all about?
As an ex-cop, you should know that Abuse Orders ease the holder's case for court, but are usually not worth the paper they're written on. My ex has threatened my life enough times, to enough people, and I've opted to take precautions rather than become a victim.

I am blessed with supportive family & neighbors, who realize that I'm not paranoid so much as empowered.

So, how much do you have in your "arsenal"? I only keep two at my house, but have access to more at my brother's (he has a range, with moving targets).

At college, everyone laughed at me because I ALWAYS locked my car doors - but what do you expect from a Californian?

Then, I got a little less conscientious about locking things (like my apartment door when I was home alone - such as the time I had two cops knocking on my door and I just yelled at them to "come in" )

I don't lock my car doors here in my driveway anymore, but normally when I got out and park somewhere, I am back to locking the doors again - I may live in a small town, but we still have problems no matter where you are.

i always have. When not at school, we live in an extremely safe neighborhood where the likelihood of something happening is very rare. But old habits die hard.

At school, most definately. I live in a dorm where our individual room doors open to the outside, so most definately.

My old house is right by the border of Irvington and Newark, NJ, in a town called Maplewood. One time, I came home alone and our back door was locked strangely - the doorknob lock, which we never use (we use the lock-on-its-own, above the doorknob). Our entire house had been ransacked and thousands of dollars worth of stuff had been taken.

And our neighbor's car was broken into during my graduation party... I've chased bike thieves down the street as they stole my bike from my backyard... my friend's car was stolen outside of my other's friend's house while in the backyard we were having a party... my other friend's car was stolen from the parking lot our community's pool while we were all lifeguarding...

I definately lock all doors, in my car and home, and I check backseats before I get into my car, and I listen carefully when I enter my home alone before turning on a television or radio.

We hardly ever lock our doors.... even though our apartment was robbed. I think we are trying way to hard to hold on to the Minnesota nice ideal.

I sleep better with locked doors. It doesnt take any effort at all to turn the little lock. Unfortunately, my stepdad was raised in a family that didnt even HAVE locks on their doors so he NEVER does, and since my mom basically changed her habits to match his when they got married, I have to live with it when I stay there.

I should mention that he doesnt lock his car either, even after his car was stolen 10 years ago. They even leave the keys on the seat. Yeah, its a nice neighborhood, but its only 10 mins outside of Philly, so its not rural and THAT safe.

Nope. Our campus is super safe. I only lock my car doors on the weekends, cause townies come up. And not at all at home. But I'm from small-town arkansas, so it's not really high crime around here!

My city isn't huge or anything-somewhere near 500,000 people I think, but it does have enough crime to set my paranoia off kilter I think!

Even when I lived at home with my parents or in the dorm with a roommate I've always locked the doors-especially before I go to sleep. Now that I live alone I still shut & lock my the door to my bedroom before I go to sleep at night. Most of the time I get up after trying to sleep to make sure my front door & patio door are still locked.

I always lock my doors.
I do feel safe where I live, but considering I live alone, keeping my doors locked is part of what makes me feel safe. I also feel safe because I live in a nice apartment complex in a nice part of town and I have great neighbors. We watch out for each other. Also, the fact that the cops make about a million rounds through the complex every night (due to the fact the vast majority of the people living here are college students who tend to party all the time and the cops come to break up the parties) helps as well.
