Yeah, I really think that the "people" who tell her she's a good singer are really the voices in her head. What a nutcase! She was frightening... And did you guys see the cameltoe?

Disappointed with last night's episode.... Where was all the talent? And what was up with Ryan Seacrest and his little historical tidbits every so often, WHO CARES! Anyone else think the judges are being much nicer this year?? Simon's comments were no where near as harsh as they usually are. And what's the point of the celebrity judge, Mark just followed Randy the entire time. Mary Roach was a nutcase; what about the Braxton relative?? Gimme a break! Let's see if tonight is any better.

Okay I already have two favorites...

1. The first guy they picked, who sang the song for his baby

and

2. The girl who sold her wedding rings so that she could stay in DC. I thought she had a great voice (needed some work, but it was only the first audition). I love her drive. So go her!!!!

What was up with the people who BUTCHERED America the Beautiful? How the hell can you butcher that song?!? I just don't get it.

And that guy who was holding the last three notes of his song for like 15-20 seconds a peice? Scary.

Mary Roach. Well she is a class of her own. The voices in her head tell her she can sing better? Just the fact that she was talking about the voices in her head, wow, she was off her rocker!!!!!! Plus, I thought it was funny that she was "all my friends tell me I have a great voice". HELLO THEIR YOUR FRIENDS!!!! As if they are going to be mean and say "no you suck". Think about if for a second.

I love Simon and his comments. I do. Yes, he is rude and mean but he is brutally honest and says it like it is. Randy is honest but not brutal and Paula just sugar coats everything she says. I'm sorry in that type of business people are brutally honest and you know this is the FOURTH season people should KNOW what to expect from Simon!!!!!!

I think there are just way to many people out there who think they are the "next American Idol" and instead it's "you can't sing, go home".

Don't get me wrong, I love Simon and his comments too.... You should hear some of the things that I say ... (my roommate gets such a kick out of watching AI with me.) He's harsh and brutally honest and that's what these people need to hear because obviously whoever they're asking must be tone-deaf. "Honesty is the best policy." Who wants to be told sugar coated lies? But, I just think he was too easy on them last night. Annnndd.... if a person can't sing a single note in tune and their pitch is all over the place, you know after half a verse that they're not going to make it, MAKE THEM STOP! Who wants to be tortured any longer?! It's worse than fingernails on a chalkboard. But more so, I guess my gripe with it is that the producers let them get in the final room with Simon, Paula & Randy even though there is no way they're continuing on. I was touched by the wedding ring girl as well.... that's commitment, and ambition. And her husband supporting her, so sweet. The first guy also had a good story, but I think it is just that that makes me like them. They can sing decent, but no one last night was a standout like Kimberly Locke, Frenchie, or others that the second they sang that first note you're hooked saying, "now that's talent!".

What about the girl with the scratches on her arms and the screeching in her voice? How she was talking before the audition about how she just looks like she has money but she really doesn't, and you can dress well too even if you don't have any money - then after it was over she and her mom were SHOCKED that she didn't make the cut, with her mom rationalizing that "you just lost your voice."

Why, after three years of this, are people setting themselves up for this kind of stuff? And why do I keep watching it?

I have a question...

I haven't ever watched this show, so maybe true fans know the answer...

When people are finally in front of Simon and Paula, they've had to pass through a certain number of auditions, right? So, if they are THAT bad and in front of them, are they purposely kept in to get this bad footage? Seems a bit cruel...

Yup. It's just not right, but the producers are convinced that it will draw big numbers to the first few episodes. I know of a bunch of people who tune in just to see how horrible the people are and then once they narrow it down to 32 they stop watching. But whatever, they found a formula that works and they're going to stick with it. I promise I'm going to put that issue to bed now, I've made my point.

I don't know, the girl who sold her wedding rings so she could stay in DC seemed a little weird to me. That in itself wasn't that weird, but the fact that she chose her karaoke machine over her wedding rings was. But selling the karaoke machine wouldn't have given her enough anyway I guess...

Does anyone know if AI pays for these people to go to Hollywood for the next leg of the competition? I always assumed that they didn't, because that would be a LOT of people to pay for. But if they don't, then how the heck is that woman going to be able to afford to go out there if she couldn't even afford to come to DC?

Yep... that's 19 Evil for you. (Or 19 Entertainment, or TPTB, or whatever.)

The bad auditions are what keep the ratings up. If they let all the good singers through to the judges, they wouldn't have any fodder for their "Awesomely Bad Auditions" show.

Ok I have to comment on our lil rock band boi Constantine. I thought he was terrible. And here is Mr. Ozzy Osborne prototype (who apparently has a Broadway background as well) in a competition with a bunch of pop stars. The "band revealing" was a set up, I think. (Don't get me started on the Regina thing... ) And say this is what 19E is looking for. If he wins, can you imagine him singing songs written by Tamayra about rainbows and ponies and crap? NO! Did anyone learn from rocker boy Patrick in Season 2? Ugh... [/rant]

I probably won't watch the rest of the auditions because last night kind of depressed me.

Although guy w/6 (5.9%) voices was FUNNY! He should have made it based on the fact that it will have the audience rolling with his one-man chorus line.

I was going to mention Constantine too. I thought for sure he's the predetermined winner with all his attention...then I remembered 'Scooter Girl'.

Someone also mentioned the guy that got the boot last year because of his wrong answer to Simon...I LOVED him. I hoped that they'd bring him back as a wild card last season. I really hope he's back! There were a lot of good looking guys. Quite a few Jennifer Hudsons...not many Fantasias...thank GOD!!!

Not too bad so far. Even my 60 year old mother in law was enthralled. When is the next one?

Hokay, Scary Mary seemed like she could have had a starring role in the Exorcist. It didn't help that AI played some slasher music. Friggin' hilarious.

I don't care if he's not *THAT* great...but the Italian dude--whose father's been the mayor of Hackensack, NJ for 15 years...he's hawt.

I think they actually changed the audition format this time around.

They used to do it where you would audition in a group and lets face it some people can sing in a group but CANNOT do solo by any means (one of my friends from high school was like that. Blended well in a group, horrible solo voice). Then if you passed the "group" audition you moved on to see the three judges.

This time around I believe they changed so that EVERYONE got to get a chance in front of Simon, Paula, Randy and the guest judge.

Believe me... I'm already seeing threads on various forums titled "Constantine: The TOTAL Package."

This is one Love-train I won't be riding on.

And Scott Staff called... he wants his look back.

1) Constantine - uh, no - thank you for applying.

2) Hippo..... - whatever his drummer was named - uh, big no.

3) Toni Braxton needs to beat the isht outta that guy if he really is her cousin. I have never heard anyone NOT sing the first syllable of every word. Scary. Truly.

4) Do not go on camera and talk about how you will go triple platinum with your 48 albums - you really sound pathetic.

5) Mary scared me - no kidding. The hair on the back of my neck stood up when she said "would you like to hear one of my other voices - I have lots" -- seriously people! I did a few weeks interning in a schizo ward and she really needs professional help. (And I won't even GO THERE to talk about her cosmetology dream.)

6) Selling your rings - uh, no - I would have to ditch the karaoke machine before my rings. She is a cute girl (bumpkin hubby though!) and she sings okay, but not a star (yet....)

7) LOVE the girl who is a single-mom (although she shouldn't use Manomasia as a role model - her album hasn't done so hot yet) - she is absolutely gorgeous and really sings well.

8) And last but CERTAINLY not least -- I am off to go shopping. I saw a *real* classy lady last night in a beautiful black dress (or parts of a dress anyway), and some to-die-for jewels. But what really got the look going for me was the Wal-Mart clip in the top of her head. And to think that she said you didn't need money to dress like you had money -- she is an inspiration to trailer-park women all over the world (oh, and PS to this - must say the fat roll hanging out the back was the best accessory).
