There are many factors regarding what stories get reported nationally. We would be naive to think that race isn't one of them. Economic class is another. I'm not really sure why. Perhaps the reporters, producers, and writers are telling the stories that are important to them from their cultural
perspective.

Ladies and gentlemen no nothing is new about that article.

My question to you is what have you done today/yesterday/last week/last month/last year to change the trend?

Have you spent time with youth lately?

Are you a Big Brother/Big Sister?

Being aware of the situation and praying/hoping for change does nothing.

Prayer/hope requires action from you.

While this article is not a wake up call it should be a reminder.

You can't save em all but you can plant seeds of self respect in one TODAY.

Mentor a young woman or man so we can break this unhealthy cycle.

I dunno what to think about this person's statements. It was nothing that I did not know already. It is unfortunate that he sees it as a bad state of things from what women of African descent suffer as well as other women in general.

I agree with what most folks are saying, too. So it is not that aspect that is biting me about this article...

What is biting me is that apparently we are not redirecting our youth and ourselves into thinking the majesty of our heritage. The strengths we had made through it all. Finding ways out of no ways. And still look good while we're at it.

After I read this piece, I could not get the line from Nikki Giovanni's (a sorority sister of DST) poem out of my head:

"I am soooooo bad, that even my ERRORS are correct!!!"

And that's the way I see it...

If that is what a "B" is... Too bad for the Black man that can only squeeze out of his mind just that to call me... 'Cuz really, the way I see it, I have been called many other things... Which makes me become indescribable, undefinable, indominitable, undeniable and always keeping control in my Universe...

It started with me... It will end with me... What 'cho mama havta say???
