I can recite the Greek Alphabet - and very quickly at that.
Do you have a match? We can have a pissing contest and see who can say it through the most times before getting burned.
In all seriousness, why does it matter? What does knowing the Greek alphabet have anything to do w/ being a good or bad sister/brother, or make any umbrella group superior to another?
I'd rather have my members know what their letters mean and live it in their daily lives, than to challenge their knowledge of the alphabet of a language they don't use every day.
But that's just me.
ETA: Is there more than one Greek alphabet? The O.P. keeps referring to the "Greek alphabets" so I might be confused...

if you're going to be critical of someone or a group you should probably have your own isht in place first, such as writing a subject line in english.

i can rattle it off--piece of cake.
you have to wonder where people get all this "information" about things that the NPC and IFC members can't do that NPHC members can, especially after graduation. have they actually SPOKEN to people who were initiated 30 years ago or are they ASSUMING. my guess is they're assuming.
what does it even matter if you could recite it when you're 53? it doesn't make you a better brother or sister.

Hmm, I don't remember being critical about any group! I was simple asking a question and this forum answer it…….. By the defensive positions some of you have taken….. It leaves me to believe that you think your organization may have some challenges with regard to reciting the Greek alphabet,…….. Just as AXiD670 stated “I'd rather have my members know what their letters mean and live it in their daily lives, than to challenge their knowledge of the alphabet of a language they don't use every day.” My question is, “How can someone live them without knowing them”.
If you are offended by my question! Well….. you might be in the wrong topic. You may need to visit the RUSH ROOM or something.

I have known it forward and backward now since around 1997. I was never made to do the match test, but I did it to myself to hone my skills. (I'm not sure how you all did your match test but I did mine saying it forward first, then backward, before the match burned me. Is that how you all did it??)

Every member of my chapter learned it & was tested on it before initiation...that was about 17 years ago, and I can still recite it easily. Same w/Mr. DZandiloo and his LXA brothers. When I traveled as a consultant, I recall most, if not all, chapters included it in their pledge curriculum & at several of the schools I visited had Rush convocation at which all the NPC sororities would sing it in unison...seems to me it was pretty well known by the NPC's I encountered at the time....

If I were you I wouldn't tell people what "room" they should be in or what topics they should talk about. You posted in my GLO forum's roll call thread
not sure what you're talking about with the "rush room"

I don't understand what you're asking. I don't HAVE to know the entire Greek alphabet to know what my letters mean. Do you?
Are you saying that non-NPHC members forget the meaning behind their letters? Or are you saying they cannot as readily recite the Greek alphabet, as in, "Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon..." etc.?
