Flyer Targets Milwaukee's African American Voters

Y'all, I LIVE in Milwaukee, and have lived here or the suburbs for my entire freaking life.

I think this is a fake, however, it pretty much accurately expresses the state of politics here. If any of you other GCers live in this city, bring your lease or a utility bill to the polls with you.

I know that I'm going to get challenged tomorrow because I'm a white girl in an African-American ward. I'm prepared for it and I have my lease. This morning Mayor Barrett and soon to be Congresswoman Gwen Moore spoke about how everybody is going to get to vote in Milwaukee, and we are, whether the fascist conservatives want us to or not.

Like Kath said -- whether or not it's a fake, the sad part is that we can't conclude whether or not it's a fake. Even if it is a fake, the racial politics of Milwaukee are such that it's a believable fake.


Hey, the College Republicans here just put out a flyer (approved by the Congressional candidate that's challenging Tammy Baldwin) telling people that they could "vote at the polling station of their choice" -- forcing the UW to send out "voting guidelines" to make sure everyone knows what the real rules are. Maybe it was just a mistake, but it's funny that this happened on a college campus that is 80, 85 % liberal.
