Well, I know I believe the CSM. MmHmm. Let's make a deal. I won't quote NewsMax and you don't quote the CSM.

And in terms of toleration, I only speak for myself. Others on here might consider doing the same, viceroy or not. But I do respect your admonishment, o exalted one.

Oh, Canada. Where to begin. The smug war of words. Weapon of choice or necessity?

Read the article. It's a brief summary of the coverage. As for Newsmax, use if you want. I just don't take the Moonies too seriously.

I did. It's pretty well done, and as you point out is simply a compilation of comments from other reports and does not draw any of its own conclusions.

What the heck is NewsMax? Never heard of it.

Huh? What did I miss?

They were still talking about it on every news outlet I heard or read yesterday.

The "fact" that the weapons disappeared after the invasion has been shown to be conjecture at best. The facts as we have them are that the IAEA knew about the weapons but did not inform us of this high value target until after they had been taken. They were taken sometime between the time that the inspectors left and when the US first reached the location and found no such stores of weapons.

If anyone is to blame, it's the IAEA for not working with the US to notify us as to where these high value targets were. So disproved might be a little too extreme. My bad. Presenting the story as "Bush lost 380 tons of weapons" is just as extreme and baseless however.

OK, but that doesn't "disprove" the story. It questions the timing. Which is important. But, so far at least, the timeline may prove that we screwed up.

Nothing has been proved or disproved.

ETA that laying this entirely at President Bush's feet is wrong -- unless you hold the CinC liable for everything that happens. That's not realistic.

Actually, the IAEA has told the world about the high value targets. Al-Qaqaa was named in Tony Blair's famous Iraq weapons dossier as a factory whose products could kill many innocent people. On May 3 2003, IAEA has raise concerns about Al-Qaqaa to the US Mission in austria.

I already said that my use of the word "disprove" was too extreme.

Anyhow. It's an extremely old story that was just rereleased and repackaged for election purposes. A Kerry October surprise. Expect another one before the election.

You're right. Sorry, I read over it and it just didn't register, I guess.

Speaking of October surprizes, I thought the administration was supposed to announce the capture of Bin Laden on 10/15.

Never mind...
