No joke, 1-800- DENTIST is how I found my dentist, and by far she is the nicest dentist I have ever had, not that mine have been mean, but really, she is the best!

Hah...we didn't have an alumni association in Chicago until I personally started it this summer.
The thing is finding a doctor that is good and also one that you feel comfortable with. The good ones are usually total pricks.
The other way to go about it is to look at what hospital you'd prefer to be admitted to if you needed something inpatient. You can get a list of doctors credentialled there (internists/ family practice... whatever your preference). Some hospital referral websites will list training credentials (med school/ residency dates) or link you to the website for that physician. I usually then do a drive-by... if the office is big and beautiful but the receptionist is rude, I go elsewhere. Best way to find out if a doctor is going to be a total prick is to ask a nurse at the hospital. We can tell you who's nasty and who's nice
