Europe Vacation: advice?

I wish I could remember the name of the Travel company that a group of my friends & I used when we traveled through Europe but our first travel guide actually stole money from us. Honestly, it was our fault because none of us had a clear idea of what our package included and what it didn't so he made us pay for some stuff that we had already paid for included in our total price. We figured it out about half way through the trip & they replaced him overnight with someone else. And we got our money back.

I just remembered some advice I was given, to not go to Italy (specifically Rome) as a female alone, or just with another female, to avoid unwanted attention and harassment from Italian guys. I have no idea how bad it is b/c I've never been, but that seems to be a cultural norm for the area. Make sure you take that into consideration! (Not that this may even make a difference if you're going with a group, but still, FYI.)

On the other hand, I've been to London several times and never felt particularly uncomfortable walking around the streets there, even when my friend and I got lost and ended up in a rather dodgy part of town!
