Welcome back (as you are reading this post-interview). Don't forget to hand-write a nice thank you note, expressing your interest, thanking them and emphasizing your qualifications. Hand deliver it tomorrow or mail in the morning. ASAP.

PM me if you'd like help writing it!

Ditto! I teach all of my kids at work to do this after an interview-- in no way is it required but employers love'em and it makes you stand out in a positive way!!

I'm back!

Whew! That was just craziness!

OK, I left super early (2:30) because I'm very locationally challeneged so I gave myself some time to get lost just in case! I actually found it pretty easily, and stayed in the car going over what I was going to say and questions I wanted to ask.

It took maybe about 40 mins. to get there, and I went inside the building around 3:30. A friend of mine who is also up for one of the internship spots was waiting in the waiting room.. her interview was supposed to be at 3, so I figured they were running late, and I was right, but that wasn't a big deal, because it gave me time to relax... I made lists of things I had to do for class... and a grocery shopping list... mainly to keep my thoughts from the fact that I was super duper nervous and excited.

I think it was probably around 4:15 when I got called in, and I was basically in a room being interviewed by two different guys.. which was way different that I thought it would be. They asked questions, and talked a lot, and then I asked questions.... generally I felt my interview with them went well... maybe not spectacular, but still good.

Then I went to meet a guy from another dept. I felt this interview went VERY well! We talked a lot about the industry and what many interns do there, projects they work on, and things like that.. and he asked if I had any questions, and I asked him some of the more in-depth questions that I had on my list, and he seemed pretty impressed with that. He said out of all the interviews he had done today, I was the only one who asked questions besides "What would I be doing?"

Then he took me around their manufacturing/distribution area which was really neat. He showed me a small project one of his previous interns had done and explained how it had helped them save a lot of money, which I thought was pretty neat.

The complete interview ended around 5:30, so it ended being just a little over an hour.

He said they are having another set of people come in for interviews on Monday, and that they would have a decision sometime next week.

.... So here's for hoping!!!! Today I believe they interviewed around 6 people, and they have a few more on Monday ... and from what the co-op/internship director at school said, they are looking to hire around 6 students to spread around the various departments.

I'm soooooooooo tired !!!!

I do have a question about the follow-up cards/letters: Should I send one to all three guys that I interviewed with today? Like individual ones? Or should I somehow combine it?

I sort of feel like this is a rush thread! *lol*

I'm so glad it went well and best of luck!!! I am in the process of looking for a full time job and I have been interviewing tons (mostly for internships last spring and starting for full time now)! It is stressful and time consuming, but hopefully it will all pay off! And I agree about the thank you notes, individual will help you stand out in each person's mind better!

I think my biggest worry about sending out the thank you notes is making them different.

I don't want them to look at them and think I wrote the same thing to each person, because then it would sound insincere..... ah! I'm so used to only having to write one.. I don't even know where to begin!

Then admit it! Say something to the effect of " Blah, blah, blah, blah, I so enjoyed meeting each of you gentlemen, and I was particularly glad that you & I had a chance to discuss ____. Blah, blah, blah, blah." That way, it can be very similar, with just one or two small deviations. Then sign them similarly, but differently (Sincerely, Most Sincerely, Yours sincerely, etc).

thanks to adpiucf for the tips on thank you/follow up letters !

I just finished writing them like 5 minutes ago, and I'm going to send them out as soon as my laundry gets out of the dryer.

I have a ginormous amount of stuff to do today b/c the interview came up unexpectedly during the week, and then switched locations, and school has been pretty nuts, so overall it's going to be a busy day today!

If I send the letters today, I think they should get there by Monday, and that is when they are doing the other interviews I think.

Yay!

Follow-up letters have been mailed off!

I also spoke with the co-op/internship guy from our school and he said about 17 total students will be interviewed total, and I believe about 6 interns will be hired...so wowzers!

I can't remember if I posted this, but I haven't heard anything back about the internship. I've talked to some of my friends who also interviewed, and they haven't heard anything either.

I'm pretty sure by now they've recieved my thank you/follow up letters. I want to call to see if they've made any decisions, but I don't want to sound all desperate or overly eager or anything!!!

I just wish they could call already!
