Wink

It was a tough decision and I talked it over with...of course...my mom...she said to just do it. I had a small inheritence that I took the funds from. Emeralds are my birthstone too...I'll bring it to retreat in November and we can all wear it over the weekend, how about that!!!

I will cry, I know, when it comes in the mail...And yes, I'll take pics and post them...The seller keeps thanking me for buying it and hasbeen very nice and congratulatory - he knows I didn't want to spend that much, but that's ok...It will be a good transaction all the way around. Haven't told my husband yet, but am waiting for the right moment...Maybe during, uhm, those marital duties I'll whisper in his ear..."Honey, I spent 2K on an antique Alpha Phi pin..." LOL!!!!!!!!

I just feel very fortunate and lucky.

Glad to hear the badge was won by an Alpha Phi. That is such a pretty badge. I love the "lazy" Alpha Phi badge. Very nice.

Smile Wow!

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and good wishes regarding my aquisition of a lazy phi pin. Your words are sweet both in public and in private. This is a dream come true...

I will wear it proudly and share it with whomever I see...It will not be put in a display, but shown often...AFTER I take it to my jeweler and make sure it is secure!

I have said this before...Sisters are sisters regardless of their Greek affiliation.

And there's a lot of 'sisterness' going around.

How old is the badge? Does it have the chapter listed?

I can't believe it went for so much!!!! Look at it this way, you can always get a 2K tax right off if you donated it (in your estate) to the Foundation (unless you have a future Alpha Phi running around)

Imagine how jealous your future daughter's sisters would be if she had that badge.

So uh, Maharet, would you mind sharing this one with me? LOL.

That emerald will look beautiful on you, especially considering your hair color.

If we ever get to meet face to face, I'll let you wear it for a little while!

Thanks - you are sweet!

HAHA, that would probably be the most expensive piece of jewelry I will ever be able to wear!

Naw, I have a feeling one great hunka hunka burnin' love is going to buy you a honking piece of bling bling when he proposes some day!

Hmmm, maybe you can wear the pin on your wedding day as 'something old'...

Maharet

P.S. OK this may be showing my age, but what does bling bling mean? I know what it stands for, but where did the phrase come from...(Gosh I feel old...)

From dictionary.com (I was surprised it was in there!)
Main Entry: bling bling
Function: noun
Definition: jewelry, often gaudy or ostentatious
Etymology: from the sound it makes

Don't feel bad...my mother, who is quite trendy, calls it "blink blink."

This is actually one of the questions in the new trivial pursuit 90s edition. It was coined by a music artist (who escapes me at this moment) during the 90s.
