Mornin'! I just double checked the school website, and basically it says that no student organization can haze.

If an administrator happens to see a individual student walking around with a black peacoat and yellow gloves or not speaking to anyone around them, there's really nothing they can say or do. It's the student's choice and the university can't infringe on how a student dresses or who they speak to.

Now I am sure if there was imminent danger to the student, the university would have a responsibility to step in. But in my chats with administrators from years ago, they definitely didn't like it, but they knew they couldn't do anything.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Very, VERRRRRY interesting. So I understand they cannot prevent students from wearing certain things or not speaking to anyone if that is what the student chooses. Which makes sense. But another question: What if several students, who all choose to dress the same way, also choose to march on line (locked up) on campus. Could the administration step in then? Or what if they choose to run everywhere, or cut corners? I'm just wondering how far the administration will let the orgs go before they step in and say something?

I have no idea how far things have to go before the University steps in. As long as they are not using university resources or violating school rules, I just don't see them stepping in.

I have definitely seen all the same things you've mentioned, but you know....if it's not happening to the president of the SGA, I don't think it's on the radar. It's KNOWN, but it's not priority.

Iowa State University:
Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority, Inc. (part of the ISU NPHC)
Sigma Lambda Beta (part of the ISU IFC, they dont get along with NPHC for some reason)

I've talked with some of the women of Gamma about doing either a social activity or some philanthropy/community service- but nothing as of yet.

Our LGLOs are basically like our NPHC orgs and dont do anything with IFC or CPC.

Sigma Lambda Beta is nationally affliated with IFC, not NPHC. So why are they expected to be apart of NPHC

They were part of NPHC at ISU for the last X-many years but 2years ago or a year ago left it and just recently joined IFC since NPHC wouldnt let them join again.

yeah, your girls here are nice. i remember sitting next to them at welcome week, and chatting with them. (i'm alum, so i don't know all the newer members to all the GLO's on campus, like i use to)

as far as i know, we have SIA and Phiota fraternity (im not sure of their official name--perhaps Phi Iota Alpha?)

ive seen 2 SIA ladies in jackets, and a few Phiotas when putting on events duriing Hermanidad (our Hispanic Heritage Month here at school)

aside from the bi-annual club fair, round robins before rush, and greek week, i dont think any of the orgs work together on anything. but that coudl be a very wrong assumption on my part.

ETA: Lambda Pi Chi Sorority is also on our campus, though i have never heard or seen any members.

Lambda Sigma Gamma is multicultural, but overall I believe their membership is predominately Latina.
