I agree w/ ya on the driving thing--if there was Metro to Dulles it woud be a different thing, but until they get the supposed "Purple Line" or whatever built there isn't any way I would drive to Dulles for a game more than once or twice a season. I-66 traffic is not very fun. In general I don't really care for NoVA or for its traffic.

Plus, it's always fun when everyone is on the train after a game. I remember riding Metro after Capitols games and like 60% of the train is hockey fans.

My sister-in-law was in town last weekend for a meeting. She works for a company that works with teams on stadium naming rights among other stuff. We have some interesting discussions since we're on opposite sides of that issue.

In my mind, the one good thing that a professional sports franchise does offer a city is getting it's (the cities) name out nationally.

When I think of "Big Time" cities, pretty much all of them have professional teams. The more teams, the more mentions on the networks or in the newspapers.

Assuming the mentions are good, a city couldn't afford that kind of publicity.

I've always questioned (mentally) how the big money benefits a teams is supposed to bring to a city is measured or figured.

They just always seem too "soft" to me.

Maryland people just don't want to co-mingle with those terrible VA drivers. Just Kidding. (Nope really I'm not.)

But best of luck to the District who have been pursuing their own team for like the last 101 years.....Maybe they can put the stadium in a nicer part of town like the MCI center. RFK is in the projects.

Ha, I have several friends in MD that freely admit that Maryland drivers are generally worse than Virginia ones. In all seriousness, there are really bad drivers in both states.

I want the team to move to NoVA for selfish reasons... I live like 10 minutes from Dulles! And I would LOVE to have a National League team nearby, so I could actually see my Mets play. But if they move to DC that will work for me too
