Some of the kids are small and I'm afraid someone is going to get smashed flat as a fritter by a speeding car. No adult seems to be watching them.

I'm just glad they don't play into the wee hours of the morning - most of the time they stop when it gets dark. I can hear the thump thump thump of the basketball all the way in the back of my house!!
If you want to look on the bright side of that, at least the kids are outside playing instead of inside watching tv, playing video games and chowing down on junk food.

You do have a good point there. Actually, they seem to be nice kids and at least they do not cause trouble in the neighborhood. The worst neighbors I had were the white trash people down the street who would go around and siphon gas out of everyone's cars at night. Fortunately for us, they moved (actually moved out in the middle of the night and skipped out on the rent, I was told.)

I have the worst neighbor ever. She's about 80 and she sits on her back porch NAKED in the summer. It's really gross because she's got all these trees around her porch so you can't see from the side, but when I take the dogs out you can see her in plain view b/c I take them to the far end of the yard. It's so gross, and she's mean and steals our newspaper regularly. What's funny though is she gives us Christmas presents though, but it's usually like a box of tissues or something else equally as random.

Imagine living next to it. We've tried calling the cops, but somehow she figures it out and goes in before they get there.

That may be one of the most disturbing things I've ever heard. I just puked in my own mouth.

At least she's on her back porch...that way you can't see her from the street...I'd be pissed if I got in my car and all my gas was gone!

This SO sounds like either senile dementia or Alzheimer's disease - a LOT of Alzheimer's clients become "clothing optional". As a geriatric counselor, I've seen way too much of this! And the Kleenex thing just sends it over the top. Does she have family checking in on her?

I have had some wild neighbors (one who would have sex with the men who were working on my roof - on her porch!), and some great ones. Currently, I have one set that plants, mows, and sets up those silly garden signs in my yard, and moved the surveyors' pegs (!), and an older couple who treat me like the daughter. Once, the older couple called me, just to make sure that I was home (because the light was on, and I wasn't supposed to be home). They're really dollbabies, and make up for the wackos!

Her son is over at her house several times a week. He's only there during the days though, and she tends to start this in the evenings. He won't talk to us and almost ran over our cat once. We try and ignore her for the most part. With the Kleenex, everyone on our street sends each other small things for Christmas so it's not entirely off...she just tends to send household items.

Makes a lot of sense - a form of Alzheimer's is referred to as "Sundowner's Syndrome", since the behavior worsens after dark.

I'm glad her son stops in, though. Too often, the kids get grossed out & stop visiting.
