Since I just turned 21 seven months ago, I am still a big fan of the college bars. Its funny though that you end up seeing all the people who you were partying with as freshman at the bar...its like they just took the exact same party you went to for years, made it legal
the most interesting bar experience ive had however was when I accompanied one of my sisters to a Serbian bar in Pittsburgh for extra credit for one of her classes. it was people of all ages, literally from like 21 up to 81 year olds and everyone was mingling with everyone else. seemed like it would have been fun if i hadnt been such an outsider!!

Jazz Bar
Also, a nice chill bar where I can sit down and not yell at the person next to me.

Co-sign to not having to yell at the person next to you. Overall, I like lounges and pubs...depends on my mood.

I've always liked Hershey Bars.
OK, then...
Actually at this point I like Irish Pubs, although someone above mentioned "College Bars." I've gotta agree that when I was in college, they were great.

I've always been a big fan of Pubs... Brit, Scot or Irish.
A Tex-Mex Bar is also cool, as is the old stand by up here in Canada - The Legion
Haven't been interested in College Bars in a while.. too old... and the ones around here have pretty much folded over the past four years.

I like chill bars that have a dance floor too. There's a cool place in SF called the Luna Lounge wher one side is a bar w/seating and the other room is a gallery until about 10pm. Then, it turns into a dance area. There's a back room that plays different music as well. You can hang out in different areas depending on your mood.

I like clubs if and only if they play good music and have a decent atmosphere. I'm also a big fan of hotel bars. They tend to be decorated nicely and not over-crowded. Jazz clubs are nice too -- the Green Mill in Chicago is a classic.

Not since the change in ownership, and the multitude of management changes... and the gutting of the "zoo"... and the "release" of the staff... and the dress code debalce... and the removal of Frat/Varsiity VIP status...
But that being said I do know the newest manager (well as of the last time I was by) and he is a friend so I hope that he is allowed to "encourage" the old atmosphere to come back... though I stick by my assertion that the dance music crap killed the "festhall" atmosphere and attracted a "thug" element to the bar...

You know what else? They tend to have real bartenders -- the one's who have actually studied the Bartender's Guide and can make a Perfect Manhattan and/or other traditional drinks.
Not that I have anything against Frozen Pink Lady Jellow Shot Mud Bottomed Marmalade's or other "trendy" college drinks, but I like cocktails that have survived the test of time.
We have a great bartender at the clubhouse in the golf course community where we live. The man does pour a good drink!
Oh, but the hotel bars do tend to be expensive.

Well that sucks. The last time I was there was a year and a half ago and I enjoyed myself. I went with a bunch of my sisters and a few of the DUs from Guelph. Nothing but good times.

A year and a half ago with DU's from Guelph.. think I was there because I remember talking with some... well that would have been the tail end of the good old days.. the back has been changed, to look more like a "pub", and they tried to turn it into a sports bar to draw in an older crowd... backfired bigtime as now you can go on what was the busiest night and they'd be lucky to break 100.

there's this bar thats about 5 minutes from my house that i absolutely love to go to. it's an big irish pub that is kind of like a sports bar on one side with dart boards and pool tables and then on the other side is this huge lounge room with big velvet couches and chairs
on Sunday nights they do $2 Miller Lite pints and kareoke......it's the highlight of the weekend for me and my friends
but i also like to go there during the week too because it's very chill. up until this past spring, the bar was known for it's older crowd but younger people have started to go there.
if i'm not at that bar i mentioned, then i'm at the beach bars which are 2 miles down the road. they're very laid back and chill and i love the people who go there. it's a mix between college students, locals, and bikers
