I have trouble falling asleep a lot because I'm lying in bed thinking of all the things I need to do the next day, the things I was supposed to do that day, etc. I read somewhere that you should keep a journal next to your bed so you can write those things down and then you won't worry about them so much. I'm going to try doing it, it hasn't happened in a while though.

what do you do when you can't sleep?

Well I usually kick my husband in the side so he will roll over and quit snoring (he rattles the windows!) That generally helps... Frequently it will wake him up enough for middle of the night *cough* romance...and then we both fall back asleep. There is something to be said for married life

I read.
Or I just shake my husband until he stops snoring, if that's what's keeping me awake.

sometimes i can't fall asleep and it bothers me. i don't go to sleep till like 2-4, and light really bothers me and wakes me up, so i'll wake up at like 6 or 7 and be pissed off! i don't know why. i like my sleep and don't like to be woken up. and being pissed off keeps me up even more, so i have to think of soothing things. it varies. i want to take sleeping pills, but i know it's not good for me.

I watch TV or read a book. Sometimes, I would lay in my bed a do nothing until I am able to fall asleep.

I had a long bout of insomnia a while back. I started CG AIM chats. I find that if I worry about things I can't sleep. I try to resolve things during the day so I am not awake all night worrying.

I'm shocked that no one said "masturbate".
In my older days, I selomly have trouble falling asleep. When I was little, I would listen to my walkman or discman.

HBO and Showtime have a great selection of crappy movies on during that time. Anything starring Mario Van Peebles = great insomnia viewing.

I was totally going to say that! Damn!
I do the same thing as Rio Kohitsuji...Monty Python is like Valium for me at night. I love it, but putting on that movie after about 10 pm knocks me out. That or "The Meaning of Life". I think it's the lighting.
