When I looked her up on yahoo yesterday, an article came up about her being treated at the Cirque Lodge. I don't remember what the source of the article was (or if it was totally valid? but it appeared so because it quoted her "manager" or whoever that guy is..) So I then looked up the Cirque Lodge website and whoa that place seems really nice (for a treatment facility) and REALLY expensive. They do only talk about treating alcohol and drug related problems, but it does say that they treat a lot of celebrities, so maybe the do have the means to treat eating disorders too? who knows...Anyways, if she really is receiving treatment there, it seems like one of the best places she could be at...

I think all the money that is spent publicizing Mary-Kate disorder needs be spent on the treatment and research about it. It sadens me that people think "oh another celebrity with a eating disorder" This is a serious disorder that happens to many young women and should be taken serioulsy. I hope she gets better and I hope this helps other young women realize that getting help is ok.

Sorry for the blabing but I lived with someone with eating disorders and she is still not better to this day becuase she wont get treatment.

Cosign.

One of my sisters dieted to lose "just 5 more pounds" until she weighed 48 pounds. She was involuntarily committed, and still has to weigh in every six months to prove that she can stay over 90 pounds.

I'd like to say that she's fine now, but she's not. I have a photo of her at a sister's wedding, standing with the mother & grandmother of the bride. When I ask which woman is which, she is invariabally thought as the grandmother, from the damage she's done to her skin, hair, and health in general.

My cousin had anorexia also. She voluntarily got help. Actually, she read an article about anorexia nervosa in Seventeen Magazine. She gave the article to her mother and said, "I think that I have this." Luckily, my mother knew a therapist who specializes in eating disorders and referred her. Her family still refers to this therapist as the person who saved my cousin's life. Now she is healthy.

Recovering from an eating disorder is an enormous struggle. Sadly, not everyone succeeds. The weight issue itself has to be addressed because so much damage has been done to the body. Also the emotional and psychological issues need to be addressed. It can takes years. Some people believe that it is a lifelong battle like drug or alcohol addiction.

I agree with that completely. I know I've posted on here a few times about my battle with anorexia. I'm "recovered" now as much as is possible, but it is something I still deal with every day and probably will forever.
