But it seems like, when they had the opening of the beaches festival, the further north you go the more the area looks like crap. Its seems more run down the closer you get to the naval base. Don't get me wrong...I've found some excellent surf shops in Atlantic and Neptune Beaches.....but as far as the houses on the ocean, they seemed a little run down compared to PVB.

How far are these cool beaches from south beach area? I'll be there in a couple weeks and want to figure out something to do other than just stay there.

PVB is outside of Jacksonville, so it would be a far drive if you are down near Miami

I'm not as crazy as I once was....my girl has chilled me out to a point you can't imagine. I was out cutting the grass the other day and was talking to my neighbor while taking a break, he said he's surprised that we're not always having huge parties after he found out we were in school ( I thought it was kind of wierd that he wanted to know what I do.)
I love St. Augustine. The old part of the city and where Flagler is are both very beautiful as well as Casa de Rio ( I think thats it). I remember going there for the first time and thought to myself that i should have went to Flagler for 2 yrs when I started college being as it's right near the beach and I could have surfed everyday.

SoBe, as you know, is down by Miami. Ponte Vedra Beach is outside of Jacksonville. PVB is kind of like the Palm Beach/Boca Raton of northern Florida. I'll actually be back home in Palm Beach in a couple of weeks. What kind of stuff do you like to do? I can tell you a million things to do in SoFL and especially in the Miami area. I'll probably be moving to Coral Gables (Miami) in late August because my Fiance keeps dinging me about moving back to SoFL, it depends on what I get going here. Its a total different world from SoFL to NoFL.

Ahhh my hometown beaches! I used to be an NSB junkie but last summer I had a job in Ponce and became absolutely addicted! I love the jetty and Lighthouse Pointe Park. There is so much stuff to do, kayaking, SCUBA, snorkeling, surfing! The water is so beautiful and I love that there is a conservation beach on that part of the island except for the last quarter mile before the jetty. I always go park there and then walk onto the no-drive beach. Mostly old people and houses so it's never crowded!
I also LOVE the beach down in Naples. Absolutely beautiful. Although they are gorgeous I am not a fan of Gulf beaches b/c I hate having to do the stingray shuffle

Haven't been to Paradise Island, but I've been to Grand Cayman. I agree - it's nice. I think the most beautiful beach I've been on is in Provodenciales in Turks & Caicos. Ahhh...why am I not there?

I love Ponce because its never crowded and looks really nice. Its one of those beaches that is in Florida that a lot of people really dont know about therefore making it a diamond in the rough. Its so relaxing to get away from everything and go there.

Falmouth Heights is definitely a nice beach.
I'm a big fan of Moosup in Martha's Vineyard. It's a beautiful beach, with the cliffs nearby and all of that. I don't think it gets too crowded either.

If you're looking for a nice beach in the South Florida area, I recommend going to Hutchinson Island/Jensen Beach. It's close to Stuart, Florida which is slightly north of West Palm Beach. It would be about a 2.5 hour drive from Miami. The beaches there aren't crowded since they're mostly for the people that own vacation homes there (but it's still a public beach). There are real surfing waves there which is really hard to find in Florida. The sand isn't all pebbles and the water is bright blue...it looks like the water you'd see in the Caribbean.
I forgot to add a beach to my list. Abroad, my favorite beach would be any beach on the island of St. Maarten. The water is bright blue and it's warm. The sand is like powder. The beach is absolutely gorgeous because it's on a tropical island but there are these beautiful green hills that run along the beach.
