I agree that young children especially pre-school -learn through play, As a Teacher of primary students in the first grade, I have expeirenced first hand that those students who did not have those experiences in pre-school are developmently delayed, especially when it comes to fine motor skills and balance which is needed in developing their handwriting. Also, I had a child in my classroom who did not know her five senses or colors. Research also shows that the arts promotes thinking skills on the right side of the brain. One's education should be balanced that includes art, and p.e. Children need to develop social skills which I feel p.e. promotes. I try to incorporate the arts in my classroom in just about every curriculum subject so as to promote thinking and creativity.

Can we say another bad idea from a superintendent that probably only taught school for a few years before he decided to go into administration. Why are all the folks that make the executive decisions a$$holes? The local, state, and national union (NEA) need to take a stand to change that policy before the 2004-05 school year even begins. Wow! What a fine mess that idiot is going to cause if he gets his way!
