I got a puppy not too long ago that I thought was a beagle/boxer. As he grows, he's starting to look beagle/pit bull which would be very good for me! I love both of those dogs. Of course, he has other breeds in him since he's a mutt.

His name is PourSISTAnCE's Pretty Pupstar and his call name is Po.

I have a lab mix named Zoe, a Shep mix named Sydney, and a calico cat named Aya. The dogs were from the shelter, the cat was given to me by my little sis that found her in a Walmart parking lot.

I'm adding another dog to the bunch, a mini dachshund, whose name is Shelby.

I have a Cocker Spainel whose name is (and I kid you not):
Tiffany Diamond Carol Anne Stephanie
But we call her PhaPha(sounds kinda like faafaa). We got her from someone who thought she was too hyper, and they had already registered her with the AKC, hense the 5 names. She is a pure bred bitch

I also have 3 Tiger Barbs(fish) named: Neap, Flood, and Ebb (anyone get that joke)
A Tiger snail named Tigger

And a Betta named Fiesty...cause all he ever wants to do is fight. You walk by the bowl and he flares out and all.

We have a mutt that someone found and couldn't keep. Our boys were at a good age to have a pet, so we adopted him. We think he is a beagle/German shepherd mix (sounds strange but he's beautiful). His name is, now this is Mr. MSKKG's doing, Barq's. That's Mr. MSKKG's favorite root beer, which was bottled on the Miss. Gulf Coast where he is from. Barq's is about the size of a beagle with shepherd and beagle markings, etc. Barq's thinks he's my 3rd son! He is smart and will even put his toys away sometimes. Spoiled rotten . . . but aren't they supposed to be?!?

Did you train him at all? I'm trying to figure out what to do with my boy. He has finished his puppy classes and now we're onto clicker training. He's between 8 and 12 weeks old (supposedly-though no one really knows!). He's responding marvelously but he's pissing me off a little. I'm trying to keep him from being food and toy protective and the advice given to me was to put my hand in his food dish while he's eating and to touch his toys while he's playing with them. Everything was going ok until today when my neighbor gave him a big ole rib she was grilling outside that had fallen on the ground. I was messing around and pretended that I was going to take it and my pup flipped out. You know that freaky snarly growl that puppies do? Well, I got that. Of course, the bone got taken away for that!!!! He's so baaaad!

Better be glad the bone got taken away-it probably would have made him sick. Stick to dog food only-it will save you lots of money in the end.

I have an eight year old (going on puppy) Welsh Terrier named Barney. I adopted him from a local shelter a little less than two years ago. He's my spoiled baby.

You can see lots of pictures of him (and my sister's dog Riley, a terrier mix, and even a couple of Winnie, the Welshie I grew up with) here.

Barq's is my 1st dog. Mr. MSKKG had dogs in the days when you left them outside and they could roam, so he had no idea really how to train a dog either. He said Barq's and I "bonded" because I hated leaving him alone since he had been a stray so I spent a lot of time with him. I didn't want him to think that we were going to leave him, too!

Back to your question though, I didn't know about using a crate to housetrain dogs, so it took him a while to understand. He's good natured and is pretty well-behaved. We didn't take him to any obedience classes either, but I'm sure they are a good idea. He pretty much lets me do anything to him, like check his ears and teeth and give him medicine, without much of a struggle (at least compared to Mr. MSKKG).

I don't know what to tell you about your puppy--maybe he'll grow out of it--but you do need to assert your "alpha-ness" to let him know who's boss before things get too out of hand! Good luck!

furry humans

I have 3 furry humans (a.k.a. cats) right now.

They are:

Boots, grey tiger with white hindlegs, dad said they looked like he had on wading boots. He is also known as schizo because he runs and hides from everyone. Someone dropped him off with 2 litter mates in the neighborhood about 6 years ago. He ended up in the backyard but would run and hide whenever we came outside. Mom started sitting outside reading and would leave food out for him. Each day she moved the dish closer to her. He would eat and then go to the back door to be near our cats that we inside but everytime we got close to him he would run and hide. Dad rigged the door with a rope and they held it open so that he could go in to get some food. He's been an indoor kitty ever since. However as I said he still runs and hides from everyone but us. Also, dad and I are the only ones who can pet him. He's just gotten to the point where he doesn't shiver when we're petting him and is finally coming up to us for pets. If we move too quickly he'll run though.

Holly - who we got from the vet with her sister two years ago. Seal point Siamese mix, has medium length hair and is just the sweetest cat. Hard to punish her though as when we would squirt her with water as a kitten to stop her from scratching furniture she would just look at us. I swear she was thinking "okay now squirt the otherside I needed the bath"

Misty - Holly's sister, she is a tortoiseshell chocolate point siamese. Of the two she is the most siamese, cry and all. The fun part with her is she loves to play fetch with either her toy mouse or the bottle top off of water bottles. She's like a dog, you throw it and she brings it right back to you and will nudge you until you throw it again for her.

my boy is shadow cat. he's a tuxedo cat with white paws, white whiskers, black coat and white tummy. i got him two years ago from the humane society. he is spoiled, a bit of a brat and sleeps on his pillow next to mine.
he, of course, is fixed, but he still likes the ladies. he also would like to be this big tough dude, but more often than not when i let him out he comes running home. he actually got a bird two saturday ago and brought it into show me and then opening his mouth. the bird booked. he was so bummed out.

I have a cat (lynx point siamese) named Aja (pronounced like "Asia"), a dog (border collie mix) named Marcie, a turtle (red-eared slider) named Snoopy, a fish (betta) named Woodstock, and a rat (fancy, black and white) named Samir. When I was living at home with my family, I had a chow mix named Sandy, a Westie named Meme (that's my girl!), and a pug named Mitzi.

Now that I'm living with my sister, I share space with another chow mix (Sandy's brother) named Chief, and a Costa-Rican terrier mix mutt named Girasol.
