Hi Ideal08,

Instead of asking us, you need to ask God for clarity and direction regarding you career and purpose. Then LISTEN for His reply. Many times we ask "What should I be doing?", but we don't listen for the reply. Be still and LISTEN.

Peace,
MsOnyx

What company are you being downsized from (you can email me privately if you want). I would suggest concentrating on your other skills and looking to other industries.

I'm being downsized from WorldCom (MCI/WorldCom/UUnet/MFS/etc, lol). That sucks about Verizon, though, because that's one of the places I was thinking about sending my resume too. I have a friend over there. Yeah, Cisco, Lucent, Nortel, everyone. It's a mess. B/c I really do like telecom. *sigh* moving on...

What do you call it, Soror 2D? New Beginnings?

Ideal08,

I understand your perspective. I'm glad that you think that way. Some of us are too busy looking all over for the answer that we don't hear it when it is presented to us. You seem open to all avenues, which is good. I hope that you find your purpose soon.

I also work in telcom area of a small company. I manage the data circuits for our client connections. I have heard about the threat of "downsizing" at telecom providers. Have you considered working in the private sector since you would like to stay in telecom? Maybe managing data solutions for clients? Many brokerage houses use data circuits to retrieve and send data. This may be another avenue to consider.

peace

It seems that all of the communication companies are downsizing. We did also, in a sense. It's awful because I'm feeling like you really can't apply anywhere else (in the same field) until it's over to avoid that last hired, first fired mess.
