In the first episode, Wayne did make a point of saying that his show is a "summer show".

Red face

I was kind of disappointed by the show. I definitely think Wayne Brady is the funniest of the "Who's Line is it..." comedians. But, I didn't chuckle too much at his comedic antics of his own show. He's the modern day Flip Wilson...which is good.
I don't think I'm looking at the show with an open mind, though. What I see...and what many people see...is this black dude dancing and singing for a (virtually) all white audience. The episode I saw, the only other black person was Brian McKnight (Brian and Justin Timberlake ripped it). I don't think the cast has to include all minorities (it's not In Living Colour ) but, I can't help but feel as if I'm witnessing a singing and dancing monkey when I watch the show.

Other than that, do yo thang Lil' Wayne!!

He said something about it being on the air to provide new programming for the summer instead of showing reruns. So, I guess it remains to be seen whether or not ABC will have a place for it on the fall lineup.

I too, am disappointed with the show. Although, I must admit that the 2nd half was somewhat funny. I will give it one more try and will then just watch him on Whose Line.

Although I think one of the dancers was black too. (maybe)

It wasn't until the 2nd episode that I saw the "black" dancer. I mean if you blinked you wouldn't be able to tell that she was black. I don't think they had her on the FIRST episode.

Girl, it's a time!

Oh, but you know ABC will say, we gave HIM his OWN show. No one said that the ENTIRE cast had to be made up by minorities.

You know, you asked for more, so we're giving it to ya attitude!

It was "ok", but not something that I'll make it a point to watch weekly, like Soul Food. It seems a bit like a "token" black show for the big TV networks. They allow a black person to have a show but make sure that it's not too "black". His clothes were horrible - pants were WWWAAAYYY to tight, material to shiny, etc. When he did that "latin" song, I just kind of lost interest.

See, I was thinking the same thing. He isn't seen as too "controversial" or "too threatening" so they feel that he is "okay". He's a good one, a keeper.
That was apparent when that lady in the audience complimented him on his eyes and smile.

IMHO

The man does have talent.

Miss America Pageant Names First Black Emcee
Fri Aug 2, 4:16 AM ET

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (Reuters) - Wayne Brady, the comedian best known as co-star of ABC's "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" will host the Miss America ( news - web sites) Pageant this year, becoming the first black emcee in the beauty contest's 81-year history, organizers said on Thursday.

Brady, 30, who has been nominated for two Emmy Awards, will be the latest in a long line of pageant hosts, including Bert Parks, Regis Philbin and Tony Danza, when the pageant airs on Walt Disney Co.'s ABC network on Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. EDT.

"My selection as host is also a defining moment, as I will be able to proudly represent the African-American community for the first time in this role," Brady said.

The Miss America Pageant, which features contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, has crowned five black winners, beginning in 1984.

Miss America Organization Chief Executive and President George Bauer described Brady as a brilliant entertainer whose "intelligent wit and warm-hearted presence will help illuminate how special our young women are."

Brady was hired as host a year after the annual Miss America Pageant returned to its traditional single-host format with a telecast headlined by Danza

You havta do stuh that don't make no kinna sense to yo folk so that you can even have the chance to knock on the door for bigga and bedda thangs...

Shoo- he could be the next Eddie Murphy, or Richard Pryor... I doubt it if he don't come up with a gimmick really fast...
