There are more and more priests AND nuns who are "off the record" supporters of protection, though they don't usually preach it from the pulpit, rather the confessional or in private conversations. This is one of those "sticky" points where American Catholics have been known to take "issue" with the Vatican. Still, there are those who follow word for word the established guidelines. For me-BC and the morning after pill are real choices for people. We're done populating the world you know...
Reminds me of a Gershwin parody..."I've got rhythm, I've got 9 kids" (I think Steve Martin sang this.)
Yes unfortunately we are populating the world w/ babies who have immature and unprepared parents. I mean come on, the pills are going to come w/ directions. How hard is it to follow the instructions?
I heard something recently that state the teen pregnancy rate is the same as it was in the 1950s. The only catch is back then these teen mothers were married. To me it looks like if they're going to do it, they're going to do it. But babies have no business having babies. I'm really disappointed in the FDA.

As someone who has used plan B, I know you are required to take a pregnancy test before using it. If you are pregnant from a previous incident, you can not use the medicine. Perhaps this is what they were talking about?

The government always uses the excuse, we have to protect the children to justify silly stuff.

Not all doctors require you to take a pregnancy test prior to prescribing Plan B. They probably should, but not everyone does. For example, Student Health Services at my school does not.

I'm glad that the FDA changed their mind on this.

Morning-after pill to be available without prescription
Buyers must prove they're 18 or older

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Women may buy the morning-after pill without a prescription -- but only with proof they're 18 or older, federal health officials ruled Thursday, capping a contentious 3-year effort to ease access to the emergency contraceptive.

Girls 17 and younger still will need a doctor's note to buy the pills, called Plan B, the Food and Drug Administration told manufacturer Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc.

That's awesome.

On NPR this morning, they mentioned that some people are opposed to this because it "promotes promiscuity." Um, that's relevant to anyone else how?
