Thumbs up

I have to agree about the colored contacts. Brown and hazel eyes don't look good on everyone; esp. if it looks like someone smashed a dirty brown $1 store crayon in your eye.

What part of PA are you from? I'm from Philadelphia and I love Timberlands. I will always wear them. In Philly, just about everyone who is Black and 40 has at least one pair of Timbs.

Are you talking about micros, cornrows, or any and all kinds of braids?

Dont take offense but I dont like to see women in tims. I have never owned a pair. I like to dress up but that's me "nameen" And any kind of braids that are not done with your own hair I dont like. I like to keep my ish nachural. Cornrowns- nachural. Micros- never. And I especially meant cornrows on grown women...it's just as bad as cornrows on grown men... in my eyes.

Yeah well I dont like many trends in Philly. Especially the famous white t , jeans and sneakers....hated it!

Frankly, even though most women wear them and it's considered professional dress, I personally do NOT like women wearing slacks, period. For one, they always look skin tight, and while I admit the sistas look good in 'em, ...well that's just it, they look too good in 'em, and it forces me to struggle (read: resist trying to holla at them for the wrong reasons).

As for the ghetto outfits, they go in one eye and out the other. Ditto for the "dime piece" outfits; I pay no attention to them.

Personally, I holla at conservative professionally dressed women. Plus points if they're still representin' 80s style (read: wearing pink, yellow, teal or lavender, and wear blouses with a big bow around the neck. Oh, and let's not forget the "big hair" and night owl glasses.

Anyway, that's me.

Whooo...I must be ghetto!!!

I love big hoops. I must admit. And I love my nail designs, although it's done with polish and not airbrush. I do hate airbrush.

I agree with nachural on boots in the summertime. When spring arrives, it's goodbye boots, but I like tims as well.

I actually enjoy wearing weaves/braids. It’s easy and convenient for ME. Where I go to school, people don't do hair as well as I like and pay for. Whenever it is time to get it done over, you better believe I'm flying home to NY.

My real hair is really nice and is just past my shoulders but I'm lazy and I don't like doing my hair ALL the time, so I'm not trying to "grow" anything.

It’s funny because some people I hear saying back at school saying, "Is that a weave/braids? Oh I don't wear that..." are probably the same ones that wish they had the balls or the money to go get one or two weeks later TRYING to emulate what they see.

IMHO think it all boils down to JUST BE YOURSELF! Don't try to be something your not. Yes I will get a weave, wear white AFTER labor day, wear prescribed color contacts (my eyesite is terrible), and will wear boots in the summer (hey I think its a NY thing, lol) and I am as Classy and Sophisticated as they come! There is a time and place for everything and I know when to "switch it up" however, I'm not going to conform and change my personal style for ANYONE!! How can you be a happy person if your not happy with yourself?

Ok...here are some pet peeves of mine:

panty lines ladies.......just don't do it
dreds that need to be retwisted and washed

There are more let me think about it

Well I feel sorry for those who dont wear weave because they hear other people who dont like it say it's ghetto. People should just do what they like. My hair is not even relaxed and when it was I never wanted any style that I couldnt do with my own hair. I mostly didnt have a style so to speak, kept it very simple, I didnt even have a part. Just let it fall on my shoulders and the front went straight back. And maybe one day I'll relax it again but right now I'm feeling my nappy napps.

Fellows

braids when your hairlaine has receded or worse when the middle is almost gone and the get hair added. yes I have seen this too many times.....it's soooo sad

I personally don't like the long curly fake nails. If your nails are long and real, I can understand you keeping them. But I can never understand someone paying to have things put on their fingers that interfere with normal tasks.

I also can't stand to see a grown man with braids. By grown, I mean mid 20s and above. It's time to grow up. There aren't many jobs you can have and wear braids, so what are you doing at 40 that allows you to?

I can't STAND to see ladies with their tummies out knowing that they are not fit to be seen. That is so unfair and nasty to me. There is no reason to wear your tummy out. They make shirts and styles that can cover that and no one would have to know what you are dealing with under there.

Hmm. Rereading old posts, and nope my opinions ain't changed.

Neon colors- boo
nasty dragon nails - boo
polka dots - BOOOOO

I don't see anything wrong with braids or weaves when they are WELL DONE. If they are flattering then go 'head! But when I can see tracks or there is 1 inch+ of new growth showing it is time to let it go.

new(er) peeves:
The Farrah Fawcett hair flip - first of all, I want to know what kind of industrial strength hair gel sistas are using to maintain this style. Are y'all using the scary black gel because that isht is WRONG! Anyway I think that style is just OUT. YEah it was popular and stuh for a minute, but that is all done. Not cute, not current, just OUT.

Pants so tight I can see your jiggle - I know that all grown women have a certain amount of cellulite. I am not hating on that. BUT REALLY when I can SEE IT BECAUSE THE CLOTH OF YOUR PANTS IS SOOOO CHEAP AND TIGHT then that is a problem for me. Cover that isht up! Please!

Phony ponies - now I really just think that this style is DATED DATED DATED and needs to go away. Yes I am sure it is very convenient but it is also NOT CUTE. I have yet to see a phony pony that doesn't look fake as hell. The textures just don't match! Accept it and find something else to dow ith shorter hair!Half the people who wear them can't even match the color much less the texture! I won't even comment on that.

Alright, let's see, I hate . . . .

Those plastic Melissa sneakers. They are ugly, and what's worse, it's summertime so you can see the fog and condensation inside the sneaker when their feet start to sweat.

Silver or Gold Chain belts. They are never attractive and to me, it looks like a big old cheap necklace hanging around your waist.

Clear plastic sandals or heels. These shoes always make the person look like a broke Cinderella who couldn't afford the real glass slippers and settled for plastic.

Black lip liner Never a good move and it's even worse when it's done in addition to frosty silver or gold lipstick.

Clearly, all of these styles are prevalent and considered fashionable in Florida.

I forgot one...

I know that it is fashionable correct to match your outfits...but when you are matched to the point of no return, then it is time to let go...

By "the point of no return" I mean...lime green shirt, shoes, shorts, purse, nail polish, jewelry, etc. I am sure that the underwear even matched!!! I have seen this many times here in Dallas. Even the hair extentions were lime green and not that dull lime green but that bright flourescent blind you lime green...And what made it worse was the chick was with her friend who was wearing all BRIGHT ORANGE!!!! They were so bright that they each looked like a piece of fruit...It was ridiculous!!! If you feel the need to match this much, then there are programs out there that can help you with your illness!!

Love Always,
**Jazadah**
