*looking for a fan for my sistafriend*
I saw him and his brothers during the Victory tour. (he was still Black back then) They put on a good show and I did have my "Beat it" jacket and white glove. I think I saw him and Prince in the same year.

I might have to be at that concert. I heard on the news as well that MJ is going to be touring once again. I like Michael Jackson. I can't be worried about how he looks and all, b/c that is a bit scary. However, I love his music and I know he will jam. But, if the tickets are way too much, I may have to pass.. Otherwise, I'm at that!!

September 7th @ MSG, that is Madison Square Garden in NYC ...
Funny thing I learned on the news today those acts that Mike plans to have open up for him claim they knew nothing about touring with him. I wonder if this is going to happen at all now.

I was 10 years old when we took a trip to Jacksonville, Fl. to attend the Victory Tour at the Gator Bowl. It was awesome! I was dressed up in the "Thriller" jacket and white glove, but I look terrible in those pictures now.

I don't think I have a Kodak moment of that outfit. That's a good thing...

I heard on 1010 wins that MJ is going to be having a concert later this year, I think in NYC, but I am not exactly sure (if anyone heard this please reply). I would be willing to see Mike, BUT I think the seats are going to be outrageously priced and the next turn off is his opening acts, one is Brittany (sp.) spears, I 4get the rest. So what do you think?
|
Actually it's been only 4 years since Michael had his last concert in the US. He sold out two performances in January 1997 in Honolulu. On both nights the stadium was packed to capacity. The majority of the tickets cost $65 each and it got cheaper as you moved into the nosebleed sections.
I enjoyed the concert as a whole since I've been a big Michael fan since childhood. What I didn't like about the concert was his strains of "I Love Youuuuuuu"s that I could've sworn went on for hours. I kept thinking to myself "I paid $65 to hear him say I love you?".
Still...I went because, well...he's Michael.

My 2 cents: All the icons are worth seeing (well, Whitney might still be a little overpriced, if you consider her an icon). Michael's last broad U.S. tour was the "Bad" tour in '88-'89, and he definitely came with the real. Forget about the silly stuff; it's when he reaches into the J5, Off the Wall, and Thriller archives that you become a fan again. And of course with his money, you know his sets are the very best. Plus, this may be his last, as he'll be 42 or 43 in August. Actually, him and his brothers are supposed to be in the studio right now and are going to tour later this year.
Speaking of 42 or 43, did anyone hear today that Prince(who will be 42 or 43 in June) just became a Jehovah Witness and has promised to no longer use profanity? What is going on?

I read that in yesterday's newspaper. It was said that he felt, as a rolemodel, that if he didn't use profanity then the young people who listen to him would not. It was also said that his lyrics would not be as sentual and erotic as they have been in the past.

Lady AKA,
I read in the latest issue of VIBE, with Mary J. Blige looking stunning on the cover, that Michael will be performing in New York during the month of September. I think I read another note of your which said that you went to Hofstra University, which means you are in NY too. So, hello my fellow Newyorker!
