OTW, I think you're right. I know on the pre-revised website, they had the words listed. Be great if when they reload it, it plays the melodies

Nothing "Official," But...
Most every Chi Omega knows "Shades" and "Chi Omega Yours Forever."

Beta Theta Pi is called the Singing Fraternity and after seeing the responses of others I guess it's with good reason:
Some important songs for Betas (that 98% of all Betas are likely to know) - Beta Doxology (used to open all formal meals)
- Gemma Nostra (all in Latin!)
- There's a Scene
- Parting Song
- Wooglin to the Pledge (a really catchy song-sort of like an Irish drinking song)
- Marching Along (Every convention has a Marching line form, in which all Betas present form a line and march in to dinner while singing this song repeatedly - truly a great moment in any Beta's experience)
- The Loving Cup (Sung during one of our very public rituals)
There are more songs that are important parts of our ritual but how well people knows them varies widely, however I think that all Betas would be able to recognize the song and gradually remember the words of these very important songs, while everyone KNOWS the songs I've listed above.
Some of these songs are VERY old, having appeared in the first comprehensive song book assembled by Beta Theta Pi in 1872. Others have been gradually added over the years, with most being added before WWI.

I don't know about an official song, but every other DZ I've ever run into has known "Delta Zeta Lamps Are Burning."

Sad....When I read the part of fraternity hymn, I started to hum it lol.
We have a fun song tho....that I think many AST chapters might know...the oscar myer song..."My sorority has a first name". That's a big hit in my chapter!

Phi Sigma Sigma does have an official hymn it's called lieberstraum... there are also other songs that all of us know that we use mainly during our pref ceremony
The words to Lieberstraum (cause I KNOW you are are DYING to know) are:
We love you so Phi Sigma Sigma
cherished fraternity
our love will grow
Phi sigma Sigma until eternity
your sphinxhead proud and true binds us all to you
where'er we go phi sigma sigma first in our hearts you'll be
I believe the tune is an old classical piece that we adopted but I don't *think* the words have changed.....

Alpha Delta Pi has a national song, and another song that is special to us, we also have a creed song that is sometimes used at pref as well as tons of spirit, recruitment, and sisterhood songs.

Well, it would be pretty sad indeed if Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia didn't have lots of songs! We sing at every meeting and other fraternity gatherings. Province and national conventions usually include a "step sing," where brothers stand on the steps of a public building (at our last convention, it was in front of the US Capitol) and sing. We have songbook (the current Centennial edition is our sixth edition) that has probably 50 or so songs in it -- most fraternal but some just general.
Without question, the Phi Mu Alpha song is Hail, Sinfonia!. (For some reason, this and most of the other song links I put in open a browser window as well as RealPlayer.) We sing it at every meeting and gathering.
Particular chapters have particular favorites otherwise, but among the wide-spread favorites are:
On and Ever Upward!
A Sinfonia Anthem
The Red and Black
A Serenade to a Girl (The Phi Mu Alpha Sweetheart Song)
Viva L'Amour
and
The Sinfonia Parting Song (sung at the end of meetings).
And, we have a pretty awesone march: The Sinfonians (Men of Song). It can be played just by band (I have heard it used at University graduations), but as in the Windows Media file I linked, it has a part for men's chorus. Way, way cool!

ok, so Alpha Phi Omega has a song that has been attempted to change, but hasn't? so does that mean that the rest of the posters who have official songs, those songs have NOT changed since they were written/first sung 50 to 100 years ago?
i'm confused....

The words and tune to "Hail Sinfonia!" have not changed since first used about 100 years ago. So far as I know, the same is true of the other songs I listed, except for "The Red and Black." That song was first written and used by our Epsilon chapter (U of Michigan), and the first line of the second verse was "Epsilon of Phi Mu Alpha, to thy praise we sing." The current version is "Brotherhood of Phi Mu Alpha, to thy praise we sing."
Just curious as to why the interest in whether the "official songs" have ever been changed?

You know, I know the songs for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia probably better than I do some of DO's songs. I have some recordings of Xi Pi chapter singing them and they make me cry every time I play them
DO has a lot of official songs, but the three that every DO knows are:
The Prayer
DO Pep Song
The Keynote of Life

We have "The Hymn to Alpha Sigma Alpha" used for rituals and pref.
Have you heard the CD Sheila? The old church ladies singing...
Other then that, I believe most ASA's know
"With an A, With an A, With and A-L-P
With a P, With a P, With a P-H-A
With and A-L-P and a P-H-A, Alpha Sigs....etc."

I think *almost* all Pi Phis know the "Pi Beta Phi Anthem" and "Speed Thee, My Arrow".
And pretty much everyone knows "Pi Pi Beta Phi" as well.

that is soo funny because at my school we have Alpha Gam and Alpha Phi and they both have versions of that cheer as well and on bid day you can hear them both shouting it and it TOTALLY gets stuck in my head.
