I'm Irish, and will be celebrating - but not as a drunken lout. There are drinking Irish, and gambling Irish, and I happen to fall in the latter catagory!

Only went to Oxford a couple of times during college for what was then called "Migration," which is when the student body of one school basically moved to another for a football weekend. The then future Mrs. DeltAlum and I got bored on one of them and drove to Columbus to party at Ohio State. The other time we stayed in Cincinnati, I think.

Miami is a great university, but they certainly didn't party like Ohio did -- at least in those days.

Had a friend who worked at a couple of Oxford bars -- The Purity and The CI (both are probably gone by now), but I didn't meet him until some years later.

But, I guess the simple answer to your question is, no. I wonder if it's something that started after I was at OU. (I've also never been to Halloween in Athens -- but my daughter, who is a 1999 OU Grad has.)

ETA I do have my O'Halloran's Tiperary Pub jacket with me today. It was given to me by the owners my last time in there before moving from Detroit to Denver!

That is, unless I enjoyed it....

I didn't march, but I was there for the last 30min!!! Got out my dr appt early, hopped on the subway, and caught the tail end of it....then proceeded to the bars (where to my dismay my fav spot by MSG was requiring you to be 23, wtf??)
Gotta love NYC!!! My mom picked me and a friend up and rolled her eyes at us. Time for some corned beef and cabbage, and then more Black and Tans!!! (I can't find any place that has green beer...anyone know a place )

I had the privilege of hearing Noble Peace Prize recipient John Hume speak at the meeting I attended. I went to a local Irish bar/restaurant and just missed seeing Maureen O'Hara and Al Roker, but I saw former Congressman Tom Manton and Sean Lennon. Gotta love New York City on Saint Patrick's Day!
