All I have to say is that people should wait until after initiation! I know an Alpha who got an ADPi tattoo and then for one reason or another was not initiated. Now wouldn't that stink?

Tell me about it!! I've heard of a former sister who got the crest tatooed on her leg, and when she deactivated, there was a huge stink over who was going to pay for the debrasion!

A couple of sister from my chapter have paw prints tatooed on their foot. They are very cute and they get lots of compliments on them.

I have to admit, I really hate the idea of tatoos. There are so few things that I liked at the age of 18 that I like now, it's scary!

Paws are cute, though! Who can resist paws?

I did always say that I would agree to permanent makeup, though, and possibly Soundex on my left hand - if I didn't have that Old Testament bugaboo about tatooing myself!

I was a little older when I got my first tattoos (around 20) and i'd thought about it for along time before that and I was well warned about getting sorority tattoos before I became alum, but now that I know that I am indeed, in for life I think i'd really like one.

Honeychile,
just out of curiosity which verse in the bible warns against tattoos? I can honestly say i've never heard of that, except in the Mormon Church. Maybe if i'd paid better attention in Catechism i'd know huh?

I never heard of it myself until my brother started seminary - and I taught Sunday School for 12 years! It's Leviticus 19:28.

One of my sisters and I got matching tattoos when we were freshmen. We got the chinese symbol for friend on the tops of our right feet. Ten years ago, we loved them. We couldn't wait to show everyone. Now, we both despise having them. She is a nurse so she is able to keep it covered at work, but I have to wear suits and heels every single day to Court and it's really hard to find heels now that cover it. So, I have to use stage makeup and cover it if my shoes don't.

Anyway, I just thought I would share my experience in case any of you were thinking about getting a tattoo on your foot.

I have 3 also and I was definitely addicted to getting them until I had to have my 3rd one redone because of fading. I have one way low on my abdomen, one on my inner ankle and one just below my right shoulder blade. They are all completely hide able and only those that I want to see them will. The ones on my ankle and abdomen didn't hurt at all but the one on my back killed. He had to stop periodically and tell me to breathe because I started to hold me breath. It hurt really bad and that was it....I was done.
I think tats are very cute and I would have loved to get a violet but I decided that I couldn't have anymore.

what is it about the back, the one on my lower back killed too, and it was my first and also biggest tattoo, i'm amazed I got another one. the one down the center of my spine wasn't bad though and you'd think it would have been the worst, it was really small though.
I think if I get violets it will be my last tattoo 4 is a nice even number, I kind of feel like since I have one on my left ankel I need something on the right to balance it out. Very Feng Shui ;-)

WOW! Can't believe how many tat-ladies we've got!!

A Delta from another chapter visited my chapter house when I was a Delta, and she had the Pi in a Diamond tat that Brianna describes. She had it on her inner foot, below the ankle bone, on the meaty part of the heel. I so wanted that, too!! Some of my sisters went to get that tat, for whatever reason I wasn't with them, but they returned with that symbol on their bikini-lines. Apparently, the State of RI has a law prohibiting tattooing below the ankle. I never got a tat, and now, I don't think I ever will!

It is some health code - Something about the skin on the foot being too thin.

As an (ahem) older alumna, I was at a meeting just prior to our chapter's blood drive. One of the sisters was invited to tell everyone who could & couldn't give blood, due to the tatoo parlors they had used or the piercings they had. The other (older) alumna turned to me and said, "I don't remember this speech, do you?!"

I considered this a defining moment in being an advisor!

This is a great thread!!!

I have two lions' paws on my right foot (small ones)

I have a little diamond with my initials and my Big Diamonds' initials in it on my left foot

I also have a big diamond on my lower back with two stars in the Diamond and OBIC between the stars...

In two weeks I'm getting another little diamond with my younger Diamonds' initals in it...

Edited b/c I couldn't remember what tattoos I have and what ones I don't... (I'm tired and I just got back form Spring Break, don't hold it against me.)

for you ladies with foot tats how are they holding up? I went to a very repuatable tattoo parlor today (if such a place can be considered repuatable) and the artists there basically refused to tattoo violets on my foot , they said that tattoos there just don't hold ink well and that i'd have to have it retouched alot if I diddn't want it to fade. so now i'm considering a Pi in diamond with violets worked into the design on my upper back, the artist is really talented so i think it'll be really neat, but still a far cry from small violets on my metatarsals.
