I am a big wimp! I had my eyebrow pierced in college and it felt like a papercut. It stung. So, I say no to the unmentionable piercings.

Lets see I had my tounge pierced for about almost three years. After I had my baby I took it out. About 3-4 years ago I was considering getting nipple piercings however while doing research I did not like to possible side effects.

*Scabs that form on either end of the piercing should be left alone. During the first 3 weeks avoid swimming, bathing, sauna etc. due to a raised chance of infection from tissue softening

*During the healing process a scab will form and the puncture site may ooze slightly (lymph). The oozing may get onto the ring and when dry is like a scab.

*Nipple piercing may take eight to twenty weeks to heal. friction from clothing may delay healing time. In women, scar tissue may lead to potential damage to lactation (milk) ducts.

Just to name a few

I enjoyed breastfeeding too much to get my nipples pierced.

I am entertaining the thought of getting my tongue, nose and navel pierced. Not all at once, of course. lol

Currently, my cartilage and ears are pierced. I'm not really afraid of pain.

How much did the tongue piercing hurt? How much did the other unmentionable areas hurt?

I am a big baby and when I got my tounge pierced it didn't hurt at all. It was over before I knew it.

I have my navel pierced and the 'infamous' piercing as well. It only hurt for the initial pinch, and afterward, I honestly didn't feel it (the pain, that is! ). It took a lot longer for my ears, nose, and navel to heal than for the down below piercing to heal.

I want to raise another question to you all that ties in to this topic. Do you think it's (un)professional to have multiple visual piercings in the work place? Just curious.

I think it's very unprofessional to have multiple visible piercings in the workplace. That's why I really like the ones that are not visible...genital, navel, and tongue. The first two are sexy and erotic because you can only choose to show them to certain people. It's like walking around with your own sexy secret. As far as the tongue, most of the time, I can't tell a person has had their tongue pierced unless they talk with their mouths open wide, or playing with the barbell to show off. At my workplace, we are not allowed to have visible piercings but the tongue will pass if you have one of those flat, flesh colored barbells that are specifically made for passing in a professional work environment.

I have no problem with people who go all out with their piercings and tattoos but it's different when you have to represent a company.

Thumbs up I TOTALLY AGREE

...but wanted to see where everybody else's head was regarding the issue. It really bothers me to see teachers with tongue piercings in visible places. Especially in this case, I believe teachers and administration should set the example to the students. I have tons of friends who are ADMINISTRATORS and have piercings in visble places--I don't really think that's professional, but it's just an opinion.

Thumbs up Piercings

I think it is whatever floats your boat. As for myself I am not interested in getting piercing that prevent me from getting a J-O-B. ie.. the facial area or ears (I do have 6 holes in each ear but I only wear 2 in each). However, the under the clothes piercings are cool just as long as it is tasteful and not too overboard.
