I 'wan play, too!
U No U an 80s child if....
1. You thought Press Your Luck was the BEST game show on TV ("Big Bucks, No Whammies!!")
2. Your family was too poor to own a VCR, so you used a regular tape recorder and held it to the TV and told everyone else in the room "Shut up, I'm taping". Plus you had to pay real close attention to the video portion so on playback you could memorize and improvise what was going on to choreograph the sounds and dialogue. *DL Hughley mode* Don't act like I'm the only one who has ever done this. I used to tape the Three Stooges every afternoon on TBS after school via this method--and still have those tapes--with me in the background ROTFLMNBAO and reading the credits to boot.
3. You remember the premiere ep of Yo! MTV Raps (aired Aug. 6, 1988 hosted by Run DMC) and all the videos that was played:
Eric B. & Rakim: Follow the Leader
Doug E. Fresh: Keep Risin' To the Top
Run DMC: Mary Mary
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince: Parents Just Don't Understand
J.J. Fad: Supersonic
Fat Boys featuring Chubby Checker: The Twist
Beastie Boys: Hold it Now....Hit It.
L.L Cool J: Goin' Back to Cali
Boogie Down Productions: My Philosophy
4. You remember Rap City when it was hosted by "Mayor" Chris Thomas and had the graffiti-like logo.
5. You wore gazelles or just non-prescription eyeglasses cause it made you look cool.
6. You thought Troop! gear (jeans, jackets, etc.) was the bomb until you found out Troop was owned by the KKK.
More stuff later

I got carded while dining with a group of co-workers at a restaurant last summer. I had just turned 32 so I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The kicker is that there was a sister in her mid 20's in the group and SHE wasn't carded!

You know you're a child of the eighties if..
1. You know the Care Bears have cousins
2. You watched Rainbow Bright
3. You HAD to have a Cabbage Patch Kid
4. You remember Teddy Ruxpin
5. Your bangs were blonde but the rest of your hair was black
6. You thought combing your baby hair out and gelling it down was cute
7. You played Duck Hunt and Track and Field with the Nintendo Power Pad

My friend and I were just thinking of "the good old days" the last time we spoke. I remember watching:
The Carebears
Strawbery Shortcake-I had the matching bedroom set.
Jem
Thundercats
Fraggle Rock
My Little Pony- I think I had every one that came out.
Gameshows:
Let's Make a Deal
$10,000 Pyramid
Family Fued with Ray Combs
Music:
"Sweet Dreams"- don't know who sang it.
Boy George and Cindy Lauper
I miss those days, they were so carefree.

"Sweet Dreams" was sung by Eurythmics (remember Annie Lennox?)
Does anyone remember these '80's movies:
Valley Girl
the Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles (or anything else w/Molly Ringwald)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
the Last American Virgin
Fast Times at Ridgemont High (Spicoli)
Why doesn't it seem like this was not that long ago??

In a nutshell you tape movies and shows with a regular tape recorder located near the TV instead of having a regular VCR. So you have great sound, but no video. An ACR (audio cassette recorder) if you will.
