I have a 3/4 sleeve thin black sweather with a white "D". D is hard to find!
The initial thing is everywhere. My personal taste is just to stick with one pieces, but some people have it in everything. Which is just plain tacky.

You can probably get one made for you. Probably doesn't cost that much extra, if at all. It might take a few days, though

Unfortunately, that trend is still going strong here, from what I've seen. (I'm not a big fan. ) Sweaters, necklaces, especially purses...you name it, it's got alphabet letters on it.
What's really popular in the town I'm from, though, are those little canvas purses monogrammed with your initials. A few years ago it was the silver jewelry with the initials, now it's handbags. Not so bad, unless your initials are A S S or something.

The LL Bean bags? I got one for my sister about 2 years ago; they were all over the place in New England (where I lived) when I bought it for her, but never really took off in Northern Florida (where she lives).
I have no initial shirts, I'm missing out on the trend.

I just could never get into that "initial" thing. It reminds me too much of Laverna DiFazio on the old "Laverne and Shirley" show who always had a big old "L" on all her shirts.

That's what my sister said! Her name starts with an "L," so she wouldn't be caught dead in initial clothing.
Munchkin, I'm not sure what the LL Bean bags look like, but the one my mom got for Christmas was this little scratchy thing shaped like a very miniature tote bag. She ended up sewing a liner in it herself because it didn't have one. Everyone has these, though.

Here is the original. It's been duplicated all over the place. LL Bean Boat and Tote Bag

I've seen a lot of shirts with the cursive initial on it, but to me it reminds me of Laverne and Shirley and Happy Days.
I work in jewelry, and YES we sold a lot of the initial diamond pendants this Christmas...especially to HUSBANDS! Weird!

For cute initialed stuff in hard to find letters check out Bluefly. They have some cute stuff.
I love things with my initials. Maybe it's being one of 4 girls, but it makes things more personal too. I have the JAM wallet in Red with a pink L and lots of Vera Bradley with my initials and other fun stuff. It's been in here for a few years and even though I am an "L" I still love the cursive.

There is a difference between the initial trend that is popular right now (actually I would say here in NC it has just begun its journey on the way out) and a monogram. Wearing the single initial on a shirt or a necklace is trendy. Monograms, at least down here, never go out of style. I honestly have had everything possible monogrammed since birth. My sheets, my towels, my cotton handbags (including both Vera and LL Bean tote that y'all are talking about), and my silver jewelry have all had my monogram on it for years.

I got a white tank top with my initial on it in rhinestones from Arden B.--this was before the initial thing REALLY exploded, I just got it because I thought it was cute and I got tons of compliments on it from guys and girls at the bar. Then I got another tank in black and I have a tote bag with my initial on it. I also have a gray off the shoulder shirt in this kind of vintage-like sweatshirt material that has my initial on it--didn't buy it for the initial, just liked the style really. After those purchases, I was like enough is enough.
But I do have a cute initial necklace that when you pull the letter closer to your neck, the longer the 2 cords go that are looped through the letter--I ordered it from Victoria's Secret back in July 02--I get a lot of compliments on it too.

I have seen sooooo many things with initials (shirts, scarves, purses, you name it) in Kaufmann's & Laz for the last 6 months, that if I see another one, my head will explode.
My initial necklaces that my aunt and uncle, and my cousin, got me YEARS ago is the closest I'm getting to this trend.

Even though, as CarolinaCutie pointed out, there's a difference between monograms and the trendy one letter initial, I still kinda feel like I'm following a trend when I wear/use my monogrammed stuff, and I hate it. I've had monogrammed stuff forever as well, and I hate feeling trendy.

I put the monogrammed items (LL Bean bags, towels, and dress shirts) in a completely different category than the initial stuff that's going around. Using my monogrammed towels that I got as a high-school graduation present doesn't seem as trendy as getting a purse with a "J" on it.
