I don't have this, but a friend of the family had a baby with an extra finger growing out of his thumb. It looked kind of unusual, but not really that big of a deal. His mother had it removed a few months later. The doctors waited because they wanted to make sure that they removed the correct finger. That freaked me out. It was a full sized finger, not a bump.

CT4, where you born with a bump or with a finger that was removed and became a bump?

The little boy I know had an actual finger that wiggled with bones a nail that grew. The finger grew out of his thumb.

I believe I was a bump from birth. I will have to ask my mom to be sure.
Mine grew out of my pinky. I have never seen the THUMB one.

Interesting.
My cat has it on both paws.

I was born with two extra fingers on each pinky. it was taken off before i left the hospital, so i have bumps that remain. My grandmother, all of my aunts (except one), and my uncle has one. I am the only grandchild to have one, and I know it is a dominant trait. I dated a guy who was born with one, and I got scared b/c i thought we maybe related way back in the day. I think it helped end the relationship.

When I think of having six fingers, I always think of the bad guy from the Princess Bride. I never realized this was such a common trait, or that the type of fingers could be so varied. You learn something new everyday on GC

Yeah, the thumb was unusual. The doctors weren't sure which was the actual thumb for a few months because they each had bones and a nail. I don't have a picture. Look at your thumb between your hand and your knuckle. That is where the second thumb grew. It was out of the side of the thumb. The baby is fine. My friend who is a pediatric nurse said that babies with an extra finger isn't that big of a deal. She sees it a few times a year.

Afriend of mine in primary school had the bump on the side of each pinky. She told me what it was and I thought it was kinda cool. I don't think it really bothered anyone - she was one of the more popular girls in school
