You know, for those of us that have NO idea what's going on, these posts don't really help to foster that community feeling.
I don't post much on GC anymore because everyone seems to have their little outside groups and in jokes, cliques and private chatting areas, but no problem with telling everyone they have these things. Those of us that aren't involved really love that exclusivity. So thanks!
Can everyone just take ALL the crap outside...and leave it there?

That's what ZTAngel is trying to say...so I really hope you're not upset with her for doing it.
For all who want to know, there was a post in CC where someone said what happened on AIM is this and that etc etc. This is in response to that thread and asking that people don't do things like that anymore - and also if they are fighting with Joe on AIM to just stay away from Joe on GC.

I am with you Cream. Also, i miss all the good chats obviously. There never seems any drama when I am on there.

I don't really notice any drama starters on the chat--but I have the most notorious ones on Ignore, so if there were problems, I would not have noticed.

Yes it does James. I have 4 people currently ignored, and I don't see anything they type when I'm in chat. I know that drama's going on when those not ignored on my BL type things in retaliation.

Sorry this is a repeat topic. Please merge. And for once I have never agreed more with Munchkin. For most of us, Greekchat isn't our lives and we would rather just not hear about all this drama you guys have in your "lives". And I find it funny how you all got upset at AIM chats but not the trash talking and fighting that goes on in the mod forum.

There is as much drama on GC as there is in the chats. Probably more. Although granted I haven't been chatting very much lately, when I did there was not all that much drama -- it's just that for some reason people felt the need to bring ALL the drama onto GC. Leave it for your friends' only posts on LJ, kids.
I agree that people need to keep their AIM drama on AIM. And I also agree that AIM has caused the recent "downfall" of GC -- but not for the reasons mentioned above. I talk to all the GCers I really want to talk to on AIM, either in the occasional chat or more often, individually. I don't need to come onto GC to find that "community" feeling that it used to have because the community feeling has moved off GC and onto AIM because it's a more personal form of communication. It's human nature to form divisions and cliques and inside jokes, and it's not like none of that happened before AIM chats -- it's just that now it takes place off GC and people are realizing how much they really weren't/aren't included.
Although I think that if you're worried about being "left out" on an online message board, your social life probably has more issues than any of us can help you with.

Exactly, it takes place off GC, and that's where it should stay (good and bad).

I keep on reading about all this drama on GC. As a GC user who doesn't really post in chit chat that much I find that the only way an average GC user finds about all this drama is through posts specifically whining about there being too much drama or asking to stop the drama. I have been actively reading and posting on greek chat for about 5 or 6 months (though I have been a member longer) and don't really understand most of the drama references you are making and I am sure I am not alone on this. If drama starts in chat rooms leave it in the chat rooms. If someone tries to bring the drama on the boards ignore them. And try to stop bringing more attention to it with post like this - PM exists for a reason.
I am saying this because I feel the main problem with GC right now is a certain level of cliqueyness that I see existing. And while it doesn't appear to be purposeful it is there. For the casual user is often hard to get into GC because its hard to get into "the know" and get over the initial feeling of being an outsider on the board. For example, I see junior members post new threads and older users immediately post links tersely saying this was discussed already with the link. And while this is being done to be helpful for the "unitiated" this comes of as kind of harsh when they are unfamiliar with gc etiquette. Inside jokes or references on the general board when a new gc'er has posted asking for advice can also make feel new gc'ers feel excluded or unwelcomed
Please don't take this as an attack on GC or the more active members. My experience with GC has always been very enjoyable. Just keep in mind (particular outside of the chit chat on the general boards) that many readers may not be very familar with greek chat. Pay attention to users post counts when you're respond to their posts, they're there for a reason.

Bob Barker is the complete man. He is also a great boxer and golfer at the same time.
