finally has a cover. . .

It's the return of the sistahs! Tastes Like Chicken is Lolita Files's much anticipated continuing story of the lives of Misty Fine and Reesy Snowden, the dynamic heroines of the bestselling novels Scenes from a Sistah and Getting to the Good Part. With steamy thrills and disastrous infidelities, Lolita's latest is a tale of two women who find themselves poised at life's crossroads with everything to lose but their friendship.

What's a girl to do when she finds out her man's been feeding her lies? When readers last saw them, Misty had just married her dream man, Rick Hodges, and was off on a fabulous honeymoon. On an equally hopeful note, a pregnant and newly engaged Reesy was riding off into the sunset with her fiancé -- reformed ladies' man Dandre Hilliard. But it isn't long before the men start misbehaving again, and in Tastes Like Chicken, they get what's coming to them.

Reesy gets the shock of her life on her wedding day, when a vengeful stranger delivers an ugly surprise that gives her serious doubts about the man she loves. Reesy doesn't stick around to hear more bad news -- she hightails it to California, leaving her old life and her fiancé behind. Dandre is fast on her heels trying to prove the legitimacy of his feelings, but those California girls prove to be a dangerous distraction, and Reesy herself finds some racy excitement in the heady world of L.A. casting calls and nightclub scenes.

Meanwhile, back on the East Coast, family and friends of both women are wrestling with their own relationship problems. A seductive interloper threatens to upset Reesy's parents' marriage, and Misty and Rick get a surprise of their own, which forces Misty to confront some shocking truths about the man she married. With her best friend on the other side of the country, Misty can only hope that she doesn't have to face the future alone.

As fans of these savvy, sexy women know, not much can keep Reesy and Misty from their ultimate dream of "having it all." Filled with the humor and personal drama that made her first books national bestsellers, Lolita Files's Tastes Like Chicken takes the sistahs -- and readers -- on their wildest ride yet.

This summer I am reading all the books written by Michael Baisden. I heard about this author from a good friend of mine. Apparently i was a little late about his book. I just finished reading Maintenance Men, God's Gift to Women and I'm finishing up Men Cry in the Dark. He is a really good author.

Can anyone suggest any good books to read this summer?

I've read:

Every book written by the following authors: Omar Tyree, Eric Jerome Dickey, Kimberla Lawson Roby, and Rosalyn McMillian.

Due to grad school hogging up my time, I will be reading the stockpile of novels that I have purchased on clearance @ B & N over the last two years.

I've started on Pen Pals by Olivia Goldsmith. Here what's its about:

From the Publisher
Goldsmith's novels have been hailed by critics and authors alike-the New York Times said she "tells a credible and deeply satisfying tale. It should give pause to jerks everywhere." Newsweek compared her to Jane Austen dealing black jack, "you keep licking your fingers and reaching for the next page as if it were another potato chip." Scott Turow hailed her as "one of our reigning national wits" while Nelson DeMille describes her books as "funny, sexy, hip, and very clever."

Meet Jennifer-a smart, sexy woman who has made good in a man's world. A major player on The Street, Jennifer agrees to take the fall when her boss is caught playing fast and loose with the SEC. After all, her fiancé is a lawyer with the connections to get her off.

Instead, Jennifer ends up in Jennings Correctional Facility for Women, a world a whole lot tougher than her Wall Street days, inside she meets a lively group of smart, tough women: crew leader Movita; crazy Cher; blindly optimistic Theresa; and the adorable Suki. While Jennifer waits in vain for the rescue that her fiancé has promised, Movita makes her an offer she can't refuse.

With Pen Pals, Olivia Goldsmith gives us another modern-day battle of the sexes-dished up with scathing wit, hilarity, and plenty of attitude. It is the acclaimed author at her incomparable best.

Author Biography: Olivia Goldsmith is the bestselling author of The First Wives Club, Flavor of the Month, Fashionably Late, Simple Isn't Easy, The Bestseller, Marrying Mom, Switcheroo, Young Wives, and Bad Boy.

The cousins need to hit the clinic....TWO times!

Rick is a straight-up biaaach. IF he ever got it again, and that's a big if, I'd be surprised if Misty don't ask him "whose is it?"

I still ain't sold on Dandre. Something ain't right wit dude...Granny' s comment on the photos had me rolling, too!!!

You betta than me on "returning" dogs----> I'da pulled over on the I-405 and been done with it.

Hill/Tryene...you'da probably saved hitting him till afterwards cause he was mos definitely putting it down!! that's what you call sprung! But I was never sure if one of the two of them wasn't going to end up dead.

Maybe it's just me but everytime Tyrone was mentioned, I get this mental image of Uncle Phil from "Fresh Prince of Bel Air??"

Hit da clinic and da prayer line. Bring The Tonies with them.

Rick was PRESSED. He better get up EVERY NIGHT to feed the baby and respond to every craving that Misty has.

I looooooooove Dandre. His past is just that, his past. Rejeana needs to let him go. Dandre sounded like he could put it down.

Hill and Tyrene. . . .naw I woulda been like don't call me that while I am umm down here. TEETH!!!!

Yeah I did get an Uncle Phil vibe. He should have confronted Tyrene. I cannot believe Tyrene walked away like that.

LMBO. LMBO.

Words cannot convey the depths of Rick's severe and excessive punktivity. Don't worry. He'll be up every night....lactating.

Dandre is soft cause don't no sista walk with your Black Porche!! Keep the ring, but the Porche comes home. Reesy mighta been a Broadway star, but the puddin' could not have been that tasty!!

As for the TEETH comment .... u are a dangerous person.

I was shocked low key as well that she got to keep the Porsche as well but ^5 Reesy for working it.

Lolita Files

In sex.lies.murder.fame., Lolita Files delivers a sizzling satire set against the affluence and sensuality of the literary and music worlds that explores the outrageous lengths to which three devout fame-chasers will go to seek their fortune.

Fame is a b*#%$. And when boy meets b*#%$, nothing can keep the two of them apart. Penn Hamilton is young, brilliant, beautiful, and ready to take on the world and claim his rightful place in the midst of celebrity. As a Writer. Rapper. Model. God. Unfortunately, the world is not quite ready for him. When Penn writes what he believes to be the "Great American Literary Blockbuster," he's rebuffed at every turn. Faced with ridicule, rejection, and mounting resentment, he decides to fight back using his assets -- rock-star looks, genius IQ, and killer charm.

Beryl Unger is a rising star in the publishing world, editor to literati and glitterati alike. Single, plain, obsessive, a bit on the dreamy side, she's a train wreck waiting to happen, and easy prey for a beautiful man with a seductive plan. When Penn meets Beryl, sparks fly. And sparks fly even higher when he meets the breathtaking superstar romance author Sharlyn Tate.

Two women, one man. A man with no boundaries, who will stop short at nothing -- even brutal, vicious murder -- to fulfill his desperate ambition. Lolita Files is the author of the bestselling Child of God, which has been optioned as a feature film by Kanye West. Files has a degree in broadcast journalism and lives outside of Los Angeles, where she is currently developing projects for television and film.

Comes out on 1.10.06
