I forgot all about Jem. Why did I watch her every morning before I went to school and on the weekends? I wonder will the children of today have the memories like we have. It was all about innocence back in the day.

I am a child of the 70's and I remember school house rock like it was yesterday. I even learned the preamble to the constitution of the United States. "WE the people.... My favorite cartoons will always be the Jetsons and the Flintstones. I no matter what dirty laundry they air about the Brady Bunch kids, I will always have great memories watching that show. Dont laugh! I really miss Disco music and 80's music.

Born in '69.
Loved the School House Rock...I'm just a bill- yeah I'm only a bill...
I think I have seen every episode of Good Times! Loved the Brady Bunch too (still catch them on Nick at Nite - when I can)
We had a lot of kids in our neighborhood and we used to play "around the block tag" or "around the block hide and seek"
Remember when $.50 bought a whole paper bag full of candy?!!
My favorite boardgame to this day is CLUE!!!!
As a matter of fact I bought it a few months ago and taught my husband to play (he never heard of it and is a little younger than me Does anyone remember Crazy Cow cereal? It turned your milk strawberry or chocolate. What I wouldn't do for a bowl of Crazy Cow!
Forget thriller! Off the Wall was Michael's best work! .....those were the good ole days!

I don't know why I am JUST getting around to reading this post, but I had to piggy back on what Soror Catwoman said.....one of the best parts of my child hood was playing TAG or Hide and Seek on my block. We used to run up and down till we could not breathe and then I had to let the cutest guy catch me
his name was Michael and I was in love...yeah at 10 I was in love
But when I look out the window today I see children with radios playing too loud and they are drinking 40's - what's up with that!
Oh well, indeed those were the good ole days.

Does anyone remember the "Electric Company" on PBS with Morgan Freeman or "1-2-3- Contact"?! I loved USA Cartoon Express, too. There was always some lady in the neighborhood selling candy for a penny or a nickel. I would have my little brown bag filled with just a quarter or fifty cents!
Was anyone a New Edition fan?

You all have my heart beating fast and I am grinning from ear to ear. But, does anyone remember the Sylvers: Hot Line, hot line, I'm calling on the hot line--clap!--clap! Foster Sylvers sure was cute. Remember those long belts we used to wrap around our waist and then loop around the leg, a mood ring, reading the back of a cereal box like it was "World News" as we ate, wearing a swim cap when you knew it wouldn't work, playing thump the knuckles to see who "gave up first", jumping over cracks so you didn't break your mama's back, the SOUL TRAIN line, sitting in church wondering what the words to the hymn the deacon was singing(some of us still do that), saying your EASTER SPEECH, saving soda bottles for the refund, wearing a Brownie uniform(I was kinda cute with those long brown socks on -hehe), the smell of a straighten comb on an open fire, the feel of the heat when mama got a little too close and holding that ear down for dear life. Remember this? "Go get me a switch and you better not come back with a little bitty one either." And remember while you were out there looking for one that you think wouldn't hurt so bad all your friends passed by and knew what you were doing? Life--you gots to love it. And can some of you remember life before cable? Sometimes, there was not much on t.v. then but I guess that hasn't changed much. MMMMMMMMMMM--those were some special days.

I remember saving the soda bottles. There was a brand of soda out then that I can't remember for the life of me that came in grape and orange. Was it Shasta?

Ok, you guys have brought me out of SM mode on this topic. I have a few additions to the memories list. Did you ever own those rainbow Mork & Mindy suspenders? Did you used to say NaaNoo NaaNoo (I guess that's how you spell it!)? What about those shirts with the ruffles that you used to set off with a bow tie (I hope I wasn't the only one)?
Let's talk about movies and music... Did you used to watch Weird Science over and over? (I swear I knew all the words to that movie!) What about all the Molly Ringwald movies ... like Breakfast Club (you know you still whistle that song every once in a while), Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, etc... And am I the only one who was in love with Sting, Simply Red, the Police, Menudo, New Kids on the Block (Don't front!) etc...
Wait, did you used to "pop pencils" at school? At my school, it was almost seen as an extracurricular sport.
Reading this thread has brought back so much stuff that I had forgotten all about. Thanks!

what about freeze tag, "it", view finders, jacks, dodge ball, four square, hop skotch, Josie and the ***** cats, Archie, Charlie's Angels, dixie cups (someone's mother sold them during the summer), pants with the elastic at the ankles, velcro tennis shoes,British Knights, your mother would use vaseline on your legs and face instead of lotion... bikes with the plastic strings coming out of the handle bars...S And H green stamps. You would save the stamps to complete books to win prizes
