ADPi uses "Alpha" in place of what most organizations call new members or pledges, "Delta" in place of colleigate members, and "Pi" in place of alumnae.... that way no matter what stage you are in, you are always a part of Alpha Delta Pi!

From what I've gathered from other threads, AGD is the only NPC to have special alumnae clubs/chapters for women under the age of 35... what we call Junior Circles.

This is a great thread, sairose! I love learning things about other sororities

Thanks, KillarneyRose! And actually, SAI's badge is the same way! That's why ours only comes in one style. It's so cool to find out another sorority's badge is the same way, because I thought we were the only ones.

Zeta has something similar. It is called Loyalty Link and is for women who have been out of college for 5 years or less. I thought Chi-O had something like this, too. Can a Chi-O clarify?

Actually, I think most of the NPC groups have something similar these days. In Alpha Phi we call them Ivy Connections.
An Ivy Connection is designed to offer a bridge from the collegiate experience into alumnae life. The Ivy Connection provides a mechanism for young alumnae to meet socially and offers opportunities for personal and professional networking. It is targeted towards Alpha Phis who have been out of college 10 years or less. The goal of an Ivy Connection is to promote programming that will cater to this age group. Ivy Connection activities and schedules are very flexible, depending on each group's needs, thus making this type of organization a very appealing opportunity for younger alumnae!

I wish Phi Mu had something like that! The alumnae groups do, though, make an effort to provide "Young Alumna" gatherings in addition to the general meetings.

Our new member pin is incorporated into our crest. I don't know how many, if any, other sororities can say that, but I think it's interesting.

Kappa Alpha Theta was the first greek letter fraternity among women...meaning we were the first to use greek letters as our name. It all started when our founder Betty Locke was asked to join a fraternity but not able to initiate they wanted to use her as as mascot figure so she decided to start her own"fraternity for women". Also we were the first to have a woman elected onto the senate. We are the only sorority to use black or gold as our colors..a lot of others use common colors such as red, blue. white, green, etc. That is all i can think of for now.. for other first's visit www.kappaalphatheta.org

Tri Delta is the only NPC sorority, and the only GLO that I know of, to use the dolphin as mascot.
It is one of the few NPC sororities to use its mascot since the the beginning of the sorority's history. (For those of us Tri Delts who were looking for the answer of when we adopted the use of the dolphin, I found it -- it was an unofficial symbol of the sorority from the beginning, and Sarah Ida Shaw used it in jewelry she gave to the national officers and the editor of the Trident.
As far as I know we are the only sorority to use our jewel, the pearl, not only as a jewel but as a symbol. (I know other sororities have symbolic meanings behind their jewels, but the jewel isn't used as a symbol associated with that group per se.)
For a while we were the only NPC sorority to have a policy preventing discrimination on sexual orientation -- now Phi Sigma Sigma has joined us.
We are the only GLO I know of that uses Poseidon as a patron.

Alpha Delta Pi was the First Secret Society founded for women...it was known as the Adelphean Society! Also, our jewel is a diamond and we use it for other reasons besides being our jewel. One example is we call our big and little sisters Diamond Sisters....another is that our badges our diamond shaped.

I think we are the only sorority whose meaning behind the shape of their badge is not a secret. It's open knowledge why we use the anchor badge!

Tri Delta's symbols all represent the members, kinda like the Alpha Delta Pi thing mentioned earlier.
The pearl is the new member (and the jewel)
The pine is the collegic member
and the pansy is the alumnae (and the flower)

DPhiE is the only NPC founded at a professional school, The School of Law at New York University. I think that we are the only NPC that has the unicorn as its mascot.

Phi Kappa Psi
Phi Psi is the only fraternity with the Jaqueminot Rose as its flower. Most of you don't care. Unless you are an AOP, in which case you are now very impressed with Phi Kappa Psi.

The members of SGRho all wear the same badge, w/ chapter guards for undergrad and alumi chapters.
Also, I don't think anyone else has the poodle for a mascot, the only other org that has a dog is the Omega's, and it's not always the same dog.
I'm sure I'll thinl of some others later.
