Thanks for the hug, Adrienne. I kept telling my mom and sister that they should've taken a handi-vac with them to church for when I turned into a pile of ash after being struck by lightning.
It's too bad though - I kind of went in there with an open mind, and had everything that I don't like about churches/religion reinforced within the first hour. The music was good, though.

I am stessed about being home. I love my family to death, but they still do not realize that the majority of the time I live by myself and I can take care of myself and get things done on my own. UGH!

I'm getting more stressed...back in November I had a slight run in with my car and am finally getting it fixed...BUT...I might not have my car for TWO WHOLE WEEKS!!! My insurance won't give me a rental car either b/c I'm not 21!!
Why can't the holidays be better?!?

This Christmas should be made into a movie and titled "When Good Families Go Bad."
I should preface this by saying that I love my family. They are all wonderful people, but Christmas is always a rough time of the year for all of us. This year seems to be shaping up to be one of the worst, though.
It's not helping that I am trying to bring up going away to graduate school, either.
Oh, and I'm joining the invisible man group. Mr. Cluey needs to hurry up and get here, pronto.

Too blessed to be stressed... Stressed spelled backwards in desserts
I am having MIL HELL... The B is psycho... Trippin' 'cuz I havta see my close to 90 year of g'mom that lives 30 minutes away...
Oh, everybody lives in Florida, too... And my flight is dayum near 6 hours. Thank God I bought Mr. AKA_Monet that portable DVD player for his birthday!!!
And we's lucky that we even could purchase the dayum tickets... I hate being stripped search...
But the best thing is purchasing most of my gifts on line and having the automatically shipped to their destinations...
Then the if it had not been for the UPS store, life would truly suck...
However, I ain't gonna Grinch somebody's Holidays...
Let's just remember the reasons for the seasons...

AKA_Monet, you are soooooo lucky! MY GIFTS STILL HAVEN'T ARRIVED!!!
So, I went out and bought MORE! Got home and the lady who put it in the box must have SHOVED it in...one is BROKEN!
Went around the neighborhood delivering candy, tripped and FELL. RUINED my best black wool pants! Busted my behind as well.
Couldn't find whipping cream at KROGERS! What grocery store runs out of CREAM during the holidays? No cooking string either!!! Found some cream but still no string!!!
Son rolls in at 3:45-wakes me up-can't go back to sleep, but the pies almost done!
NEXT Christmas, I want to leave town and find a cabin in the woods!

I am right there with you!!!
Starting last weekend... Mom's side Christmas get together hour away. Tried to get apartment settled for family visits. Father arrives to half organized apartment. Helped my father do his shopping. Brother needed to go to emergency room, his jaw looked like a grapefruit settled in for the holidays. Trying to finish my shopping. Getting everything wrapped. Was up until 3am wrapping Santa gifts. Still surrounded by boxes. Getting Dad to airport today. Sister and Bro-in-law arrive tomorrow. Other sister has wicked flu. Mom is upset because we haven't done anything with her while Dad was visiting. Not sure if out of town relatives got their gifts, haven't had time to call them.
The worst of all... Haven't taken my munchkin to get picture with Santa this year. I have got like three hours left, and I am stuck at work until 2pm.
I put the tree up on Monday. At least that is something! It will be pretty to look at while I drink myself into oblivian Thursday night.

My family did that one Christmas! We had such a blast and didn't have to deal with all of the stresses that can come from extended family visits. I highly recommend it

At the ST family home
I was prepared to be in mad hostile mode. Why? We were going to have a guest who I don't care for -- my nephew's female companion's child. Not coming. Thank Goodness.

Simon and Garfunkel were one of THE best duo performers-
Excellent singers/songwriters. Mrs. Robinson, Bridge over Troubled Water, Cathy's Song...the list goes on and on. They have several albums including a live performance in Central Park.
I like their studio cuts better though.

Christmas Eve went well, but the brother-in-law found a way to make it uncomfortable. Called over here first thing this a.m. griping about Son and Hubby holding up the golf game. T-time was set for 9:00. He called at 8:40! He does this every time.
Tonight it's MY side thank heaven! I am betting he shows up though...
The gifts arrived...of course, he goes..."So basically, you gave me a toy?" He has NEVER given anyone in this family a gift at Christmas NO BIGGIE. This year he kept telling me what he was giving everyone ahead of time. He spent more than he should and I told him EACH TIME that it was WAY too much! I guess he thought we would spend the same on him! WHY does everything
have to come down to a price tag for some people? Good grief if I added up all the food I've stuffed into his face and all the gifts we have given him he needs to sell his stock if he wants to play "even stevens". I honestly can not stand him-that's an awful thing to say about someone you are going to see the rest of your life...

Ooooh, I'm starting to relax now although we still haven't had the big meal or the grand family gift unwrapping. It's downhill from here because Mr. Carnation and I finished setting out the Santa gifts last night at 3:22 AM.
We thought we were done buying presents and then ASLFRose came to us and asked if her 3-year boyfriend could stay with us over Christmas as both his parents had to work Christmas Day. Aieeee! We love that boy and went out Christmas Eve and shopped madly for him.
Now I'm gonna go chill with some cocoa while the pumpkin pies are baking....

I have to spend Christmas with my two faced extended family. One of whom I found out a few months ago reads my Lj and prints out my entries.
My mom cooks all this seafood for other people and doesn't think about me. So what do I get? Chicken strips and corn she threw in the microwave.
My sis in law gave my 97 yr old grandma corn and peas, and she's not supposed to eat vegetables. That'll be a nice mess to clean up. Thank God it's not my responsibility.
Then my cousin asks where the "quiet one" is... aka my asshole Uncle who lives with my grandma but does shit. Aunt Lj Printer Bitch mumbles "who phyllis".... you damn bitch I'm sorry if I don't feel good and I'm not talking.
I got up from the table and left. And who's fault is everything? Mine. Cuz I'm hard to please.
I'd like to take this time to give my whole family the finger.

The Holiday crap is winding down and I'm glad it's pretty much over.
I didn't really start my Christmas shopping till this past weekend and I really wish I didn't wait so late.
Most of the gifts for the friends ended up being gift certificates and giftcards to their favorite stores. TC's gift was the one that gave me the most stress. Most of the stores at the mall didn't carry his size so I had to trek it to Waikiki's Niketown. God bless old friends from HS who hook it up with the discount. I don't bother wrapping Xmas gifts because I'm too lazy, but I always go all out for the kids because they like to open stuff. So I spent an extra $20 to get someone else to wrap the gifts.
Last night no one made comments about my weight, which was good.
Everyone seems to love their gifts so far...I haven't opened mine yet.
So..in a few hours I'll be roasting with my beer at the game. Kickoff's at 3PM HST and it'll be on ESPN. It's UH vs. UH!
Go TC!

OTW, do not turn into a Beer Barrel, would not look good on you!
Carol, what can I say Love!
pm-mama, yep remember the good ole days too!
This time 5 hr drive to and fro. not bad in 1 1/2 day give or take! Dad and I were alone for Christmas Eve, boring as hell! Smoked more than at the Smoke Shop. Brother was gone that night.
Hell He and I even carried along a conversation more than a paragraph.
Took a tour around Home Town, well for @ 30 min.
I have come to the conclusion from what we all klnow about the Holidays, that screw the Damn Relatives, and lets just have one for us GCers. No gifts, just Christmas Cheer and being with Our Friends!
Hell, we may as well be related, damn, We fight like it!
