As with any religion, culture can influence people's interpretations of God's word. And the media is the last place to go to find out the truth about religion or Islam for that matter. To learn about any religion you have to go to their source...

What is the source for all version/sects/regional interpretations of Islam?

OK, let's be fair:

1. Some Islamic sects DO oppress women by forcing them to wear head scarvel\other forms of covering .

2. Others do not

I'm beginning to think that there's no real right or wrong way of interpreting the Koran, just many ways. One sect saying that another is "wrong" is like how some Protestant sects belive that Episcopalians/High Anglicans are "wrong" because their form of worship is often very close to that of the Roman Catholic Church.

Tell you all what. I'll go to the French Government and threaten them with a cap gun. When they all wave their white flags, we'll be able to do whatever we want with this "law".

Don't do that! You'll have to rebuild their country after they surrender...

Can we afford that and still keep all of these tax cuts?

LOL... any country but France. Other than some nice scenery, they have no viable starting point.

The wine industry can finance the reconstruction. Of course, Haliburton will overcharged the cost of the wine.

I guess I won't be going to France anytime soon. Wow, France really is kinda wack; then again they think the same thing about us. So instead I'll say the French leadership is VERY wack- just like the U.S.A.!

Yeah those stupid French people!!! I'm glad no one infrenges on my religious rights here in America.

But if a girl is forced to wear something by her family from day 1 that has a lot of implications. The cultures crash as Huntington would say.

Obviously you need to go back and read what I said. Muslims who state that wearing hijab is oppressive, in my opinion, are unclear about their faith. Wearing it is not intended to restrict women in any form. Now I agree that a person shouldn't be FORCED to do anything. You should behave according to what you feel is right in that case. However, you can't take parts of a faith and not all and call yourself a true believer, in my opinion. Either you are or you aren't...

So are you? Mohammed (remember that guy) hated the hijabs.

We can't go to war with France. I'm making a new thread just to explain why.

Also, the west is best. Wait untill the EU and China go to war.

Well, Chiraq (s?) is pandering to the Extreme Right and trying to get votes away from the NAtional Front. It's all politics.

Yeah. He did the same thing a while ago. They don't have a two party system, so in some countries you have to appeal to what people believe in to get elected, not just have a good comerical. My question is: who really cares? A French guy is pissed off at Muslims? Wow. Really, wow thatis all I can say. Wasn't there another thread where everyone got all pissed off because some woman wouldn't take her scarf off to get her driver's lincence picture taken? I don't care about that either.
