AR & Razr, any updates? Pics of the inside of the house? I see you are still working on getting a website up.

Wow, that is awesome, I can see why fraternity houses are more affordable than ours. Our campus does not allow members to reside in the building where the fraternity business or parties are held. It would be awesome to be in a setup like Sigma Nu at Arkansas.

Your chapter built a very nice house back in the 1950s designed by a famous architect, Edward D. Stone. What happened to it? Is it now occupied by another group?

I've been to that old house many times, it was a BEAST. Built to house men and parties. Almost indestructible!
Anyways, after Gamma Upsilon got the boot I believe the university used it as offices for the Dept. of Chemistry. Then, when AOII was colonized at Arkansas they got the old EN house and totally renovated it. Here’s what it looked like when they were done, and it probably still looks like this as AOII’s new house isn’t finished yet.
Front of the house (still had the EN letters in stone at the time):
Dining Room:
Front Room:
Lowered Den (as it was back in the day):
Lowered Den (as it is now):
The big old patio (memories...) There used to be a little fountain/pond thing out there, I believe in the shape of the badge, but they filled it in.

Banditone - thanks for those pics! I was a Sigma Nu lil' Sis "back in the day" and those pictures really took me back! I can still see the parties - especially Sigma Nu Relays! I was very disappointed that SN spiraled out of control enough to get themselves kicked off campus several years ago, so am thrilled at the new house, new location, new resurgence of SN on the U of A campus! Go Snakes.

When did Arkansas suspend the Sigma Nu chapter?

They were shut down in Fall 2000. They are completely back now and have their charter back I believe. I think they are over 100 men now also.
I am very jealous of the alumni support Gamma Upsilon enjoys.

haha, I am in the same boat as yourself. But I am hoping and striving to develop our alumni support. But like someone wrote on another forum, "it just takes work and time."

Ha ha Banditone - I didn't know you posted those pics of the old EN house. Those are my kids playing Legos in front of the fireplace. I had taken all of those pics during the renovation of the "Phoenix House" for AOII.

Irish, those are great pics! I remember running around that house back in like 1992. I assume AOII is still in it as their house doesn't appear to be complete yet?
Cute kiddos

Yes - the girls are in the old EN house this Fall. The new house on Maple will be finished in early December, then the landscape and furnishings go in. The chapter will move into the new place in January before the semester starts. I will actually miss the old EN house. It has a lot of faults, and the exterior isn't great, but that was such a big and rewarding project that I will miss it. The transformation was so dramatic. I think the expectations are so high now that a lot of the girls don't really appreciate it. I thought it turned out to be a cute place to live.
