In my house we just initiated a sister with a baby. She is extremely devoted to the house, but will never be able to live-in, or hold a high office because of that. Before pledging her we had to talk to our nationals, and they said it was okay. It was still a difficult issue for my house, because one had to discuss what her priorities were if she was willing to give up so much time from her child to be a part of the house.

I was a bit skeptical, but she has been a great assett to our house. On a side note I do know that if a member gets pregnant while active they are asked to leave. My personal opinion is that this is necessary. It is hard enough to be pregnant and a full time student, but to be spending twenty + hours with sorority business a week...I don't know how that could be good for the sister or her unborn baby.

I think I am beiginning to understand this a little. In my organization, when we have meetings and when we do most comunity service and some funraising projects, it's no problem to have your child with you so maybe that why it doesn't have that same stigma.

I guess when you are dealing with a house that all of your sorors live together in it's different
