Marching band? I don't think we even HAVE a band. And one of the reasons i agreed to coach Girls BB is because i've at least played BB before.
If i was in charge of a marching bad, we'd just play marchs and do military marching, i.e. the Nationally Famous, Fightin' Texas Aggie Band!
Game 2 of the season was tonight in our gym vs. the Lady Braves of Our Lady of Lourdes. Just B team and A team.
My B team girls picked up right where they left off against league powerhouse Pine Ridge and (wo)man-handled the Lady Braves, to a tune of a 36-8 rout. I was doing regular subbing in and out of the game until the start of the 4th quarter when i turned to my bench and said, ok, y'all are checking in I redeemed my T from last night when the other team picked up a T for having 6 players on the court. All of the girls and fans wanted Dez Blacksmith, our team's leading scorer to take the shots(i know, cuz they were very vocal in this assertion) but instead i chose Charlee Running Eagle, who's more technically sound. 2 swishes
The A team coach didn't show up, as he informed me at 9am this morning he had to go to a Pow Wow in North Platte, NE. So, i had to try to coach and manage their game without having worked too much with them. We ended up losing a close game 35-33.
I'm going to continue posting these updates, cuz you know what? i'm really excited about this. Tuesday i'm gonna take in my Stereo and get some Jams playing for pre-game warm-ups and let my girls chose a song to run onto the floor to
Loneman Eagles "B" Team 1-1.

Yeppers. He retired for the second time at the end of last year. I'll give him a year before he comes out of retirement again. Last time it lasted 2 years.
Remember, defense wins games. His teams always had a wicked press.

Game 3 of the season for the Loneman Eagles "B" Team.
The Lady Warriors of Wolf Creek came calling, driving the 15 miles up SD hwy 18 to Oglala and Loneman school.
Dez Blacksmith again turns in a stellar performance as the Loneman Eagles scored after controlling the opening tip and never looked back as they romped over the Lady Warriors 43-10.
One of the highlights of this game came when defensive stud Saige Pourier sent the shot of a girl 4 inches taller up into the bleachers. (ok, so, she just barely blocked it, but cut me some slack, i always wanted to be a sports journalist )Man, that girl is a Bruce Bowen in a skirt, putting fear in the hearts of opposing point guards.
I got a laugh about halfway through the third quarter, when the lead was 35-10 and Saige comes to the sideline during a timeout and tells me the other girls are calling one our girls, Sioux Dawn Janis a 'dyke'. Sioux's our equivalent of Ron Artest. I looked at her and was like, is that true? and when she nodded i said, Sioux, all you gotta do is say, "Scoreboard" and point up to it
It's so great to hear em laugh at that
I had my first parental complaint tonight too. I pulled most of the starters at the start of the first quarter, and wanted to wait to pull Dez by herself so she could get a round of applause from the crowd. Well, one of the parents(of a girl who started and played most of the game) approached me afterwards and said, " i'm ______'s dad and i just would like to know why she came out of the game. That Dez Blacksmith played the whole game and me and some of the other parents were wondering why she doesn't have to come out"
After i got over my inital urge to tell the gentlemen exactly which part of anatomy that he could stick his opinion, i responded very diplomatically and was proud of my response. I replied, "Well sir, last time i checked, I was the coach of this team, not you or the other parents. I determine who plays and how much. If you will notice, EVERY girl on the team got to play tonight, and they got to play in competitive stages of the game, not just mop up. But, if you want to know, your daughter picked 2 quick fouls, so i set her down to cool her off. Later on in the game, she was getting agitated by the other team, so again, i pulled her to settle her down. I sat down the majority of my starters at the beginning of the 4th quarter and at the end was just playing the backups. But, regardless of all that, EVERY girl got to play, and we won by 30 points, so, in MY book, i coached a great game tonight" and walked off.
whew.
Oh yeah, and the A team coach showed up and they lost tomorrow night we travel to Rocky Ford. It should be a little tougher going.
Kitso
KS 361 times it feels great when the girls stop the huddle break and make sure i get in there for the, "1,2,3 EAGLES!"

thanks for all the well wishes.
Well, Wednesday night the Lady Eagles travelled to Rockyford to take on the Lady Raiders, and experienced a first in the young season.
For the first time, all 3 Loneman teams were victorious in their games, the B team rolled as ususal to a 35-17 victory and the A and C teams were also able to win by double digit margins.
All the usual suspects played well, but we did get a scare when Charlee took a finger to the eye. Fortunately, she's gonna be ok.
The coach for the Lady Raiders was exactly the type of coach i never want to be. She spent all three games, shrieking at her players and at the referees for calls. I would have hated to play for a coach like her and that's why i try not to yell at my girls. The more you yell, you either make them incredibly jittery, or you make them tune you out. I think the fact that i hardly got up from the bench(except during time outs, or occasionally to get a player's attention), or hardly raised my voice made her scream louder
Either way, the B team is now 3-1 and has a break in action until next wednesday when Wounded Knee rolls into town. Next thursday we have our rematch with league leader Pine Ridge. That game was my girls' only loss of the season, and that was only by 3 points. We'll see if we've improved any since then

KS 361 rolls of tape i wanted to use to shut Rockyford's coach up.

well sports fans, after a heartbreaking loss to Pine Ridge last week and a couple days off, the Loneman Lady Eagles took to the hardwood this evening for the first installment of the Kitso Family Feud.
The Lady Eagles, coached by Kitso, hosted the American Horse Lady Chiefs whose principal is none other than Momma Kitso.
Try as i might, the game turned into an OU-A&M type bloodbath. I sat my starters the entire 2nd half and called off the press and we still walked out with a 59-4 victory. Momma Kitso wasn't too happy, looks like i'm gonna be getting coal from her for Christmas.
Tomorrow afternoon we travel to Porcupine and then are off until next Tuesday. Right now we're 4-2, and would be seeded either 2 or 3 when the conference tourny rolls around. Barring a major upset, we should go at least 3-1 in our final four games and hopefully avoid playing Pine Ridge again until the second round of the tourney. Hopefully by then i can come up with a way to beat the Lady Thropes.
Kitso
KS 361 points we've scored this season, and have given up less than the amount of GCers that acutally read every word of a post by decadence
