SOmetimes people just need to get away and I don't think that others understand this. The only excuse that they are taking no questions asked are classes. Anything else can be turned down and you will not gett excused.

That is very insane and draconian! What if a sister is sick and can't make a meeting or an event? What if she works and a co-worker has some sort of emergency and she has to cover for him/her? What if a sister has an emergency and can't make an event or meeting? At least they would allow you to go to your classes. I wonder if they think a 15 page paper is a reasonable cause to get excused from an event or meeting.

Life happens! I doubt your e-board can control that. I think you should talk to them and tell them what you think about what they are doing and how it impacts the lives of your sisters. Good luck!

Most jobs in college towns will work around your college schedule, but there are always exceptions if a coworker gets sick or has a family emergency. If you are trying it shouldn't be a choice between your sorority and your job.
I agree. Today's college student has a lot more expectations, and has to suport themselves through a lot of school. If events are planned with good notice--- say 6-8 weeks, that is reasonable to request that you take off work to attend. If things are being sprung on you last-minute, it is unrealistic.

1) Is there a chapter adviser, an alumna you can talk to?
2) If there is not, talk to your campus Greek adviser about the restrictions the sorority is placing.

In order to develop strong, life-loyal members, the sorority must encourage each member to become well-rounded in the areas of scholarship, work ethic, partipication and activity on campus, leadership and personal talent.

Good luck and feel free to PM me.
