Well, as a Texan and a fellow Lubbock-ite, I can say that we say "up here" because we Texans tend to think of the world in terms of the state of Texas...Lubbock is the "up" part of Texas...thus "up here!"
Welcome to GC, Texas TechBabe...I don't know if you are a WTX native (I'm not), but its nice to have someone else on here who is currently experiencing the South Plains!

No im originally from San Antonio, but I went to school in Austin last year, and LET ME TELL YOU!! I never thought I'd miss trees and anything green, but I do. So far Lubbock has treated me very well, and the guy selection is niiiiiiice!

Austin is beautiful isn't it?  I miss Austin...beautiful city, the things to do, the Auboritum, 6th Street...ahh, someday!
