Well I mentioned my concern to other alumna on Saturday at Gamma Rho's rush. Many sympathized. I also spoke to Anne Eggert, who is our alumna president and she is going to mention in our alumna newsletter the trouble U of A is having and encourage alumna's to send letters and cards of support.
Out of curiousity adpi-jen, how is your chapter able to stay active without a house? I ask because U of A, if they don't have a house, you can't be an active chapter. Just curious.

Thank you for all the support girls.

Brianna

I just wanted to let you know that here at Gamma Nu we don't have a house alll of the sororities are housed in Semple Hall with their own wing that women from the chapters live on and they have a chapter room to have meetings and ritual in. So you can be an active chapter and not have a house.

It's the same thing at Valparaiso, too .... we're just housed in Scheele Hall (wonder if all the halls would wind up being "S" Halls?

Not all the halls begin with a S...and NAU the sororities and most of the fraternities are housed in Mt View Hall...but I think she was refering more to every other chapter having a house, but one not and still being able to function...

functioning with out a "house"...

Let me tell you, its not easy! And its a BIG part of the reason that the ADPi numbers are so low. All of the other NPC's on campus have beautiful houses and most have very high numbers (think over 100 when ADPI is less than 20).

Yep...EXTREMELY hard to function. There aren't any rules about having to have a house. We had weekly meetings in the Student Union. Most Deltas held and exec office as well as other non-exec office. At one time I was New Member Coordinator, Membership Education Vice President, a Pride Leader, a Diamond Sister, and Scholarship Chair.

Its very stressful and I think that contributes to the retention issues. Alot of times it felt more like a job that I was paying someone to "let" me do. Because of how small we are in comparison to other NPCs on campus, we aren't able to fully particiapte in Formal Rectruitment and are forced to rely on COR which is difficult to do.

Basically the low number demands that everyone participates in everything or it doesn't happen.

Its sad I know, but I often feel like I am still waiting to just relax and enjoy the benefits of our sisterhood. Although, I do realize that I am blessed because of it already in many ways. But the hectic times I had in the chapter have caused me to not be as involved as I would like with the chartering of a new Alum Association in my area.

Its very hard to compete with the other NPC groups on campus, but somehow the chapter manages to continue to keep its head above water.

Wow, I probably vented just a little more than you all would have liked...I'll end it here. Thanks for "listening."

Is there an email address for the chapter? Maybe we can start a "Violets to You" chain letter--- where we send an email with all the ADPi GC'ers names and locations, and send it the chapter--- more ADPi's can get the chain letter and send it , too, so you get a long chain of Violets!

check out my thread 'send violets to u of a delta gamma chapter'. The only thing I could find for the chapter was their presidents name (which was a feat in itself). the chapter doesn't have a website.

so everyone check out my other thread 'send violets to u of a delta gamma chapter'
