I just watched the preview of Return of The King. I can't wait till it comes out. The Lord of the Rings is fast becoming my favourite movie(s) of all time.

I ended up buying the DVDs for the regular version and the extended version last time out.

This time I am just waiting for the extended DVD. I know I'll be buying it anyway.

I thought the Ents were the weakest part of the movie personally. Davey and Goliath anyone? I don't know that it could have been done any other way, but it just stuck out like a sore thumb from the rest of the unbelievably visually stimulating film.

I saw int he paper that they are going to have double features showing BOTH extended versions before the release of RotK later this year. That is damn near 8 hours of movie, and while yes I personally would sit through it ALL, I don't know if I believe the theatres will do it...

They just better let me bring my chinese food in, that's all I'm sayin....

New Line Cinema announced it will re-release extended versions of the first two Lord of the Rings movies worldwide just two weeks before the Dec. 17 release of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Variety reports the studio plans to release the 208-minute long Fellowship of the Ring Dec. 5 on 100-150 screens in the top 10 U.S. markets, with one cinema in other cities showing the special extended editions. The 214-minute long The Two Towers, meanwhile, will unspool in theaters the week of Dec. 12, leading up to a worldwide daylong marathon Dec. 16, during which all three films will be shown back-to-back. Exhibitor guidelines call for a 3 p.m. showing of Fellowship, followed by a 7 p.m. screening of Two Towers and then an 11 p.m. screening of Return of the King which will carry over into Dec. 17 -- the day of its global release. Advanced ticket sales are scheduled to begin in late September or early October on exhibitor Web sites and movie ticketing sites.
i am so there

I broke down and watched the Return of the King preview. I was so happy to see some of the little bits from the book that they could easily have left out (like Pippen's conversation with Gandalf at the window of their room in Minas Tirith).

I can't wait!

I knew you would break down!!! It is okay though, the anticipation is what makes it fun. I agree, I think the scene w/ the hobbits scaling the cliff is unbelievable. I am very excited about the EE. I am getting the collectors edition EE, not for the statues or anything, but just because it seems like I might as well get the display box and everything.

I used to go to this theater that would let you bring ANY food you wanted into the theater. You could show up with a roasted turkey and they would let you bring it in!! It closed though, unfortunately. That is where I would like to see the theater EE's!!

You.

Don't.

Under-

STAAAAAAAAND my obsession with LOTR!!! Yes, like a drug addict hungers for sweet, sweet crack, I am haunted by an insatiable hunger for all that is Frodo! Alas, I am ass poor right now, but soon(oh yes, sooon) I shall obtain a copy of the Twin Towers DVD. And when that triple release comes out, you best believe I will be setting aside my day to worship at the local Tolkien Temple(also known as Loews Cineplex)

Can I just say though, for my fellow closet LOTR dorks(I know you're out there, don't lie!), I dunno HOW the hell they are going to fit everything that happens in the last book in this movie, there's a whole bunch of shit that goes down! In the last movie they ended pretty early, there's some major things that were still left! Anyways, I'm soooooo excited for Return of the King, what I've been hearing is that this last movie will blow the other two away! Ok, I have to pause my gushing, I'm going to give myself a stroke, hahaha

By all means gush!

I love hearing about people who actually read books. Too many of us give it up as soon as we leave college, and thus have nothing more interesting than our favorite sports team to discuss.

I am determined to hold out for the Two Towers extended DVD.

awesome . i think the movies are some of the greatests ive ever seen. ive read all three books and yer right about alot left to fit in. i think the movie is going to be around 3.5 hours.

since you are strapped for cash, i'd suggest you WAIT to buy the two towers extra edition DVD being released in november. it's about 25 bucks and it's going to have an extra 40 minutes of MOVIE footage...haha it's awesome and i cant wait for it.

in the EE dvd, they have a scene with boromir on top of a building shouting "this city has been reclaimed for gondor"...man it was hot.

I lost count...

You may have seen it fives times, but I know I have watched it more than that, counting the 3 times I went to the theater. I am soo excited for the Gift set to come out in November. Not only for all the extra footage and added scenes, but also for the Gollum disc and statue that we will get. I love Gollum!!! He is kind of creepy at the same time though. They are just great movies.

That's me too. My kids gave the extended version of FotR for Christmas last year, and I imagine I'll get the exended version of TT this year.

Meanwhile, there's Blockbuster.

TRUE...

But here is what I finally realized. It costs like $4.95 each time it is rented at Blockbuster, not to mention the $2.99 late fee that always seems to be added to my movies. So, I just buy the movies that I know I will like, b/c they are offered so much cheaper these days. I got my Two Towers for like $9.00. I will get my Extended for like $9 or $10 I bet. It is just worth it to me.
