Good Question! I wonder that too!
Since my husband is away, my mom or aunt usually goes to my dcotor appointments with me. When I'm anywhere and people start asking me about the baby, I'm JUST starting to show, I always feel like I have to mention my husband. NOT that there's anything wrong with not being married, it's just NOT for me! Weird, but I find myself doing it all the time. We're in a VERY small town and I keep thinking that everyone thinks that I'm some niece/granddaughter that 'got in trouble', so they sent her out to the boonies to live! (Oh, I'm in upstate NY because my gramma had a quadruple bypass, and I'm taking care of her!) So much drama!

We had an alum help out with rush one year, who was about 6 months pregnant. She wore her letters with pride, and came to pref wearing a lovely black maternity dress and her badge. (I think the PNMs thought of us that year as "the sorority with the pregnant lady" )
(Edited to add: She was well into her 30's, so there wasn't much chance of her being mistaken for an active - plus, alums usually dress distinctly from actives.)
All the best to you, the little one, your husband, and your grandma.

The year I rushed our chapter advisor was pregnant- about 6 or 7 months, and she wouldn't wear letters for fear the girls would think she was an active (she was like 23 at the time, but married and her engagement ring was the size of my big toe!) anyway, she was really paranoid about it! I thought it would be cute if she wore AGD ALUM shirts and KA Legacy in the Making or something!

Yes. I am sure other people will disagree on this, but I wouldn't see a problem with it.

Boy, I can relate to this one! Being a Christmas-time baby is NOT fun!
(I know this all too well...my birthday is 12/28...hence my GC name! And man, did I get the shaft!)

My take on this one is that we are in SISTERHOODS with other WOMEN. And one of the things about women is that they sometimes have babies. So married or no, if you're a strong enough woman to go through a pregnancy and become a mom, I think you should wear your letters with pride and all those who see them should be proud of you!

Re: Re: Hrm
I totally agree.
A member of my chapter went alum this past semester because she was pregnant. She just gave birth on Saturday!
I thought it was great that some of the very first ppl she called Sat. morn were her phi sig sisters!(she gave birth at 8 am, and called my other sister at 10 am).
All of us are so happy for her!
