I think that it has been shown many times, that race was not the main reason for the Civil War, but economics and while slavery was the main machinery as it were compared to the Industial North, the North wanted the furtile land to the South which were owned by the Plantation heirarchy who ran the South!
Robert E. Lee was a US Army Officer who lived in what is now Arlington Cemetary, the Large Mansion still there today. He refused to fight against his family and friends who lived in the South and resigned his commision as many other officers did.
It does get tiresome to hear how the KKK which as we know it today suck! But, it was originaly started to fight against the Carpetbaggers who were sent from the North to run, control, front and steal money for the intrusts of the North!
Were all Southerners Bad? I think not. Andrew Johnson from Tenn. became President when Lincoln was killed.
I am Proud to be related to both of these fine gentlemen.
By the way, when Lincoln was about to be impeached, Johnson was carried in the chamber on a streatcher and voted no. The deciding vote!
Before many speak up, they should learn a lot about the real history. Where do you think Liberia came from as a Country?
