Obviously, this has gotten serious airplay on the local stations in both Milwaukee & Pittsburgh. My personal viewpoint is that the newscasters are loving the idea of talking about beating the meat in public!

(did I really say that?!)

This whole thing is hilarious -- we were talking about it in class yesterday and had no idea, until I watched CNN yesterday, that it was national news.

And I agree with damasa. Stop hating on the sausage; yall are just jealous.

Mr. honeychile lives in Chicago, so I've been to many a Summerfest or otherfest. I think you have to grow up eating the sausage to really appreciate it.

I was just quoting the local newscasters!

The Sausage Race is a Wisconsin tradition right up there with Summerfest, the Packers, cheeseheads, and drinking Miller. It is my favorite part of Brewer games, and I am dismayed at the lack of respect shown by this "Pirate" character. The pierogies, whatever they are, better watch out.

Don't wack our wiener!

I am glad that the sausage girl is okay and didn't have any hard feelings for the Pirate who hit her with the bat. It is irony she wants a the bat that he hit her with autographed as a souvenir.

While I'm Glad the girl is all right, I just wonder if it's worth getting a $482 fine plus a three game suspension for this? The Fine I can understand, but the suspension is a bit too much. Randall Simon has apoloigized and sent a autographed baseball bat, but I guess it wasn't enough.

They're tasty little dough packets stuffed with either a mashed potato/cheese mixture or sauerkraut. They'd get along very well with any sort of sausage, I daresay.

Are they kind of like a Hot Pocket? I've heard the name before, but I didn't know what they were.

No, they're more of a slightly large ravioli. You can boil them, or you can pan-fry them. Generally don't put sauce on them though (although I have). They're usually cooked in butter and onions.

Hmm...they are not sounding up my alley. Are they Polish?

Yep! Hence why they're so big in Pittsburgh.

I not a huge fan of them when they're cooked in onions, but they're actually pretty good. This is inspiring me to pull out my Mrs. T's frozen pierogies (they're SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better when you get them made fresh from little old Polish ladies usually through their church).

It's funny, Pitt's dining services would have them on a fairly regular basis. None of my eastern-PA friends really knew what they were, but once they tasted them, they were hooked! They'd get so damn excited when it was pierogie day
