KKG and Tri Delta thongs. Thank god those are the only two.
Quick question - do the HQ of these groups know about this? That stuff all has to be licensed- did those groups approve of this? If not, whoever is creating them is going to get their butts sued. There's a company that does the majority of the greek licensing and they're like attack dogs.

Damn right they have to be licensed!!!!! Tri Delta has this INSANE licensing policy, just for instances like this!!! Is there any company attached to the thongs? Or a catalog or something? As soon as I have actual proof (not that I don't trust you guys, but you understand that EO is going to want to see this for their own eyes) somone is going to get their asses sued. I KNOW Tri Delta would NEVER allow THONGS with letters!!!
OF ALL THE THINGS!!!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!!!! I'm calling the bookstore tomorrow.
edited to add: AND I'M DAMN SURE NEITHER WOULD KKG

It seems like, at least the company linked to by AOTT Luv, you just pick out an item and whatever random letters you want on it they'll put on them.
That's one thing, the special order stuff, the company may be licensed, who knows. Just might not tell them about them being thongs- may just say various items.
But the fact that they were created and sent to a store to be marketed strikes me as over the line.
http://www.greeklicensing.com/default.asp handles most NPC and NIC group's licensing, including Tri Delta (not KKG though)
The greek-house.com is NOT licensed by ANY of the groups is seems. If you really want to take some action, contact those greek licensing people, they're like attack dogs and will hunt them down, and probably sue their asses off.

Damn, I checked out the site. They don't have anything with Tri Delta on it, so there isn't anyway to get them. I will be going to Pittsburg eventually this summer to look at law schools, and you can bet your "i-have-a-lettered-thong-up-my" a$$ that if this is still in the Pitt store, I am buying a pair and sending it to the office!!! Gross. I just hope none of my sisters buy these. That would just be embarissing.
ps- jharb, are your letters liceneced?? by either greek licensing or by your nationals? cause i know Tri Delta's letters, the words, the crest, etc are registered trademarks. if yours are, you can get your nationals to sue their ass

Like it or not, I think this may actually become a trend...at least on certain campuses.

May not have anything pre made with Delta Delta Delta on it, but for all the thongs you just pick your selection of letters.
Even if you pick it to customize it, they CANNOT use the the DDD letters without the express permission of DDD's HQ.
Just went over the KD bylaws and convention last week and spoke and read at length about the trademarks, etc.
Just like you can't hire some screenprinter to print you a bunch of t-shirts that say "Abercrombie and Fitch"- A&F would sue their butts off.
If i remember tomorrow, i'll sic greeklicensing .com on that website.....

I'm going to stop in the store tomorrow if I can on my lunchbreak to check them out, find out who makes them, etc. If they're not a licensed company (I recognize most of the names) I may say something to one of the clerks.
What law school will you be checking out? Pitt, Duquesne? If you have any questions, let me know - i'm going into my 2nd year at Pitt.
And Dionysus, you're absolutely right. Actually i'm sure some have sold already on my campus, and i'm sure several of the other groups have asked for them in their house. Some of the sorority ladies around here aren't quite "ladies"

Hmm. Maybe Sisquo could remix the "Thong Song" again.
Possible names:
"Thong Song Remix Remix"
"My Big Fat Greek Thong Song"
I'll have to keep thinking on it till I come up with something catchy

I have to bring this up, a friend of mine is in Sigma Delta Tau...imagine that in greek letters on a thong. I know any girls in that sorority have been told what it looks like.

We actually had a rep. from I believe it was called Greek Chic or something to that effect come after chapter one day. It was a new, up-and-coming company and yes...they offered thongs too with letters on! I don't think any of the girls bought them though, as far as I know...besides, they were too highly priced!

thongs in the bookstore
We had these in our on-campus bookstore, too- thongs for all 5 sororities. I don't know if anyone actually bought them. The guys sure thought it was funny though.
Mostly I think people just thought it was weird that our bookstore would be selling thongs at all, Greek letters or not. Who wants to buy a thong in the school bookstore at a tiny college where a million people would see you?

Hit the nail on the head, I'm gonna look at UPitt and Duqesne. Both have good Environmental Law programs...I might be PMing you as I get closer to my visits/decision about where I'm going to look.
I can't believe people have bought these ::shakes head::
We had a huge debate about ordering those cheer shorts that said Tri Delta on the back (not even the letters) for our Greek Week dance. Some people saw it as disrespectful because you were sitting on your letters. I can't imagine actually sitting on them, or having them up your crack.

GREEK PANTIES
I checked out this website when they first started ( www.greek-house.com) and it's AWESOME! They just reformatted it and it looks great! They have a HUGE selection and their prices are the best i've seen MUCH BETTER THAN GREEK 101. As for the panties - how much cuter could you get!
It's about time someone finally started carrying womens items that were good quality and affordable. I've ordered from here twice already and got my stuff in less than two weeks. We're definitely using them for our bulk orders and hope they keep the stylish clothes coming!
For those of you who complain about letters on panties, why aren't you complaining about your letters on shot glasses, etc. which are used for alcohol consumption and can do far more damage than a pair of thongs. GET REAL!

Do I smell a troll?
No offense if you're actually legit, but your post sounded WAY too much like a paid advertisement for greek-house.com.
I suggest you read the rest of the site. Panty/thongs with greek letters aren't the only thing we don't like to see our letters on. And i'm pretty sure our HQ are against them.
BTW- Greek House isn't licensed to even be making most of this stuff. When you buy something that is from a non-licensed vendor, not only are they not legally making their product, but your national org is losing money in the royalties they get from it.
