Being an ADPi I've become very fond of the Ronald McDonald House. I also like the Children's Miracle Network.

Ohhh, I love Meals on Wheels too. At my last job, our department did this (during work hours) once a week.

As far as non-profits go, I really like the agency I work for. I know I am bias but they run some really great programs that are extremely needed in the community. You can check us out at www.tsiny.org. I work for the ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Program. I've also worked in several of the agency's residential programs and have learned TONS!
I know I gripe a lot about my profession, but overall, my agency is one of the better ones IMHO, extremely supportive, and a pleasure to work for!
P.S. We are hiring another Social Worker in my program if anyone is interested or knows someone who may be interested

The National Urban League... economic empowerment is a movement dear to my heart.
Also the American Diabetes Association and the Multiple Sclerosis Society (the diseases that have heavily affected mine and hubby's families).

The two in my profile (American Heart Association and Susan B. Komen, both for personal reasons), as well as Make a Wish are three of my favorites.

United Negro College Fund. It's a great organization.
Also, the National Urban League.

Greetings to all the ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho and everyone-
I'm new to the Sigma Gamma Rho boards and decided to jump on in--
My favorite non-profit org is the Warrick Dunn Foundation. This young NFL player gives away a new home every Christmas to a single-mom to allow her the chance to own her first home although she may not have the finances to gather the down payment money. He has partnered with many companies to not only get the house, but he fills it with all new products and furniture and has it professionally decorated. He works with the mom and a financing company to esnure she can keep up with the payments also.
When I saw him on tv this month give a young mom with kids a new future-it blew me away. He was raised by a single mom and was one of six kids I believe. She was killed in the line of duty and his success has allowed him to give back to as many single moms as possible in her honor!
