Well, it was SORT of cancelled....

Contract disputes:

Mom: Disney Dissed Duff
Jun 6, 3:17 PM EST

Associated Press

Hilary Duff said goodbye to Disney and the "Lizzie McGuire" empire because, as her mother puts it, "We weren't feeling the love."

Susan Duff tells Entertainment Weekly for its June 13 issue, "They weren't giving Hilary the respect she deserved."

The 15-year-old actress has starred in the hugely popular Disney Channel sitcom "Lizzie McGuire" since 2001 and the spin-off film, "The Lizzie McGuire Movie," which has grossed about $40 million since it opened May 2.

But negotiations broke down last month between Disney and Duff's representatives over how much money she would receive for a "Lizzie McGuire Movie" sequel and a new ABC prime-time series that would follow her character to high school.

Duff reportedly had received offers of six figures per episode from at least two competing networks, while ABC offered $35,000 an episode, the magazine reported. As for the movie sequel, the two sides couldn't agree on terms of a $500,000 bonus for the young star.

Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group president Nina Jacobson said in a statement: "We tried very hard to close a deal on the 'Lizzie McGuire' sequel. We think Hilary is very talented and we very much wanted to stay in business with her."

It was going to continue on as a prime time show on ABC with the gang in HS....Aw well

I'm DEFINITELY going to miss that show! Here's a message from Hilary from her own website, regarding the deal:

"It made me very sad to read some of your questions in regards if I'm only doing it for the money or if I'm getting greedy. Every Disney Channel show from "Even Steven" to "That's so Raven" and "Lizzie McGuire" has only 65 episodes. Lizzie continues to be on the Disney Channel for a few more years and the decision about another Lizzie movie was not based on money it had more to do with the working enviroment. I love being Lizzie and maybe there is another movie in the future."

I'm a Lizzie Addict...

LOVE her to death. But you know who she is? She's a Clarissa Explains It All for our sibling's generation!

Yeah I'm a Lizzie and Raven addict as well!

I'll have to agree with whomever said that Disney is better now. I used to not care so much for the channel but now it seems there is always something worthwhile to watch on that channel!

When are actors going to learn that when you leave the role that everyone loves you for, it just DOESN'T work!

People want to see Lizzie, not Hillary Duff just yet as a singer. If she would of settled the contract and done a Lizze High school show, she would of gotten even bigger.

I have always wondered the SAME thing! Had she gone to any school I've ever been to, she would have been hands down the most popular girl in school! So crazy!

-----------

I've wondered the SAME thing! Especially in the movie... when Lizzie is parading around Rome in stiletto heels and cute, trendy outfits that make her look 20. I've NEVER understood why Lizzie was not popular, but Kate was. Kate is GROSS! I don't think she's cute, no one likes her (other than her equally obnoxious clique) and she dresses like a 40 year old mom! How and why, exactly, does she RUN the school?

I saw something about it on ET and she said something about the way they (Disney) treated her family and how she didn't feel they were being treated well anymore. She didn't mention money or negotiations, just that she's very sorry to see the show go and the people she's made friends with. Anyone else see that?

OMG....I'm SO excited...Disney re-opened negotiations, and while nothing's guarenteed to come out of this...obviously they're going to try harder this time...I mean, would they really waste the time if the weren't going to cave?
